Weight limit?[Clearance 9'-11"]
Ummm...It's definitely over 7,000 lbs. Here in Lancaster PA we've got a bunch of historic covered bridges and I think the weight limit is 3 tons for all of them so I'm very aware of the weight limit. It would be nice if the Rivian nav system recognized bridges that we can't cross.Your R1S is pretty close to the weight limit of that bridge!
So are you saying that you do not cross those bridges in your truck?Ummm...It's definitely over 7,000 lbs. No - I don't. I know where they are and avoid them if I'm in the Rivian. I'm sure I'd be fine, but figuring my R1S is around 7,500 lbs when I'm driving it around puts me around 25% above the weight limit for the bridges. I don't know what the tolerance is (it's probably much higher), but I'll let some asshole in a CT be the one who caused a 150 year-old bridge (and their vehicle) fall into the water. So are you saying that you do not cross those bridges in your truck?
The sign in the picture indicates the bridge has a 3-ton weight limit. You didn't see that?Weight limit?![]()
So if I pass over the bridge at 80 mph the risk is reduced, right? No - I don't. I know where they are and avoid them if I'm in the Rivian. The other thing, at least with our Lancaster covered bridges, is that they're also known as "Kissing Bridges" where the tradition is that you stop your car in the middle and give your loved one a kiss. That would add to the risk.
I had to laugh as well...Sure, except that all of the bridges around here have turns leading into the one-lane bridge - I believe it's specifically to prevent speeding. Here's an example:So if I pass over the bridge at 80 mph the risk is reduced, right?
