I just spoke with my guide Zachary and finalized my configuration today. He said they were expecting 4-6 weeks and would know specific timing when a vehicle was in route to California for me. Final Config:
  • Launch Green
  • Black Interior
  • 20" Bright ATs
  • Full Size Spare
  • All-Weather Floor Mats
  • Field Kit

Was this also your config before estimated dates went out? Make any changes? What's the deal with Forest Edge?

I was contacted by my guide on the fateful March 1st whiplash of emotions from that first price increase email. I was locked in the preorder price from the get go but am super stoked Rivian reversed course. My guide sent me an email and a link to set up a phone call. The phone call only needs a couple of minutes to confirm your configuration but we chatted a lot about what happened on March 1st and the upcoming adventures Im gonna have with my R1T.

Note Rivian can only send one pair of crossbars. If you want a second you have to get thru the online store.

Next they sent a prelim price contract. It originally had the camp kitchen/gear shuttle. However, I got called today by my guide that the camp kitchen is not available and he asked me if its ok to proceed without it for now. I said yes of course. Camp kitchen will still be same preorder price.

When I talked to my guide he couldn’t state ballpark delivery but I got the sense my truck is built and should be leaving the factory soon! Im prepared for 4-6 weeks but hopeful it will be a lot sooner

Never did test ride or first mile. They will deliver to my house and will do an extensive go thru and tutorial of my truck. Supposedly there is a one week grace period to drive it before committing 100%

Portland OR reservation 5/2019 R1T LE Rivian Blue Black int 20” AT camp kitchen cross bars all weather mats full size spare field kit

iKamper Skycamp 2.0 mini with awning, 1UP Usa rear hitch bike mount

I had originally had forest edge selected. I swapped it to black several months ago and then back to forest edge maybe two months ago. When it came time to finalize, he said FE could delay it as they still showed my order with black interior on his end. So I locked in the black interior. I really wanted the dark wood dash, but I was still super hesitant on the green headliner. So it was an easy decision to just go black given the unknown timing on FE.

The online configurator keeps swapping my wheels for some reason. There seems to be some disconnect from what we see online vs what the guides see on their order end. I originally had 22" Brights set and then I locked in 20" ATs. Not sure why exactly but 20" are supposed to be what I'm getting. Honestly I went back and forth this whole time on those and just could never make a decision. I'd be happy with either 20 or 22s. But I do plan (down the line at some point) to get a set of street tires for the 20's anyway since 99% of my driving will be commute.

Has anyone posted the price contract on this forum? Its a lot of legalese but I assume ppl would like to have it to read prior to their turn.

I drove by the Dallas site a couple weeks ago and they had construction crews working on the interior.
I was just by the Dallas center again yesterday. They still have a ways to go.
Thank you both for taking the time to go by and providing the update! Looks like my March/April estimated delivery date will be delayed, unless they drop mine off on the way to Austin, or Houston.

Crazy that people are buying a car without driving it first. I get it, but it's still madness. Rivian needs to get their shit together with test drives.
I did a test drive at Rivian's test drive event, but would have no problem buying the R1T without one. Thinking back, I've probably bought 6 or 7 cars now without test drives. It's just not something that is usually an option if its a brand new vehicle (even from existing manufactures). I usually order vehicles so maybe I'm just used to that. It's pretty normal in the factory ordering process to sign long before you see the vehicle.

Not sure how crazy that is. Last 20+ years I did my research first, decided what I wanted, the test drive was really just ceremony. I have never decided not to buy after the test drive.

I have an R1S on order, did have a chance to test drive the R1T, it exceeded my expectations so for sure moving forward.

For a few hours last week I thought I had a real chance of my delivery moving up in the queue but alas…..

Still hoping for the June/July window to be confirmed.

Curious - do any of you Tesla old-timers remember how it was handled with the initial release of the Model S?

Well in a bit of pique, let me humbly submit that I didn’t need to see the cheerleaders naked during my teen years, to know that I……

…I’m waiting for that delivery too.

Wow I’m surprised. The building just off 7 looks barely started last I drove past.

Very exciting!
