I do not have a lot of miles on yet after 2 days of ownership, but I did my first DC charge this afternoon (Electrify America) on one of 6 350 kWh chargers at their Cadillac, MI location. I was the only vehicle charging. I drove about 60 miles to get there at highway speeds (60-80 mph) in moderate rain, 37 degrees, so the truck was not cold. I opened an account with EA yesterday, and charge session started within 60 seconds of plugging in and tapping my iPhone on their reader. First impression of EA is good!
The R1T started the charging session at 39% SOC. Charge rate began at 166 kWh.
I went into Meijers for about 45 minutes so could not monitor charge rate, but here are some points:
SOC 39% - 80% : 28 minutes (based on text notification)
SOC 39% - 91% : 46 min. At 91% charge rate observed at 41 kWh
SOC 39% - 100% : 1 hr 18 min.
In Normal mode at 100% SOC the truck indicated it had a range of 286 miles. Changing to Conserve mode bumped that up to 310.
I was not tracking my range/efficiency for the drive to the charging station, but I noticed shortly before I arrived at EA that the 15 min avg efficiency number was hovering around 2 mile/kW while running 60-80 mph. I was in Normal mode, low suspension setting, cabin heat at 70, headlights and fog lights on, radio on, radar detector on.
For the drive home I selected Conserve Mode. The road was still wet (light rain & 36 degrees, minimal wind) and was in a slightly hilly area with cruise control set for 60. After about 20 minutes I checked the 15 min avg efficiency number and saw it was up to 2.52 mile/kW. The last part of the drive I lowered the cruise to 55 mph and saw the 15 min avg number go up to 2.82. The road for this last section was flat. Way too early to know how accurate that number is, but it does give some idea of how Conserve mode and lower speeds impact range. I'm very curious to see how other do with range.
My Wall charger was delivered yesterday and I am waiting for an electrician to install it, so I am limited to public charging options. I tried the portable charger at 120v and had a charge rate of about 1.5 mile/hr. :-(
