I just got back from the milford DMV it was painful as it took 2 hours past my appointment to be seen. Rivian did send all the right documents and it went through no problem.

I have a question.. How are they doing inspection stickers when they don't have the registration? Or is my truck going to come without and I have so many days?

the temp plates come with a temp registration. FYI I got inspected 2 1/2 weeks after getting my truck, I wasn’t stopped but I know I could have talked my way through it.

Congrats! Good to hear that they are still delivering 20" ATs these days -- albeit with some wait. I've been toying with switching from blue to forest green so I'll be interested to see the timeline for your delivery.

We'll see if I get stuck at this step though. I had my config set at 21s last week but switched back to 20s then 4 hours later got the email. I'll keep you all posted. Guide wasn't sure on timeline other than my original December/January estimate.

You got it delivered without plates? How did you get insurance without it being registered?


I just got back from a 4 hour round trip to the Berkshires to register my truck with temp plates! Insurance will be active Tomorrow just in time for my delivery in the afternoon...

Yeah I guess the Chelsea crew and my insurance agent made that happen. They brought it without plates on the flatbed.

I had to pester quite a lot, but I finally got my paperwork in the nick of time [for my RMV appt tomorrow morning]. I went to the service center to pick it up because I wanted to see the other colors (red and yellow in particular). Their only red one was delivered before I got there, but they still had one yellow, which looks fantastic but isn't what I had expected. It was lighter and more pastel than the richer yellow that I was expecting.

So if you have an impending compass yellow delivery... I've ogled your baby.

I am surprised how many R1Ts they have though. They must be delivering to the area at an incredible pace!

You only need a VIN to insure a car and to register you need proof of insurance, so you literally can't do it the other way around.

Thanks! Yes, came with the spare tire. I received the charger and the cross bars the day before. Still waiting for the all weather mats. ?

Oooo, I also have a red Tesla 3 . Except I'm trading mine in for the Rivian. Looks great and of course I'm hugely jealous.

I understand I needed a VIN to get insurance.. But it was worse for me with my insurance company. It was like a circular dependency hell..

They wouldn't provide an insurance binder to Rivian until it was registered. So Rivian sent me the paperwork for the RMV (always double check their paperwork, they had the wrong lien holder). I then brought that to my insurance company for their "stamp" then I registered the truck. Once the truck is in the RMV system my insurance company gives me the insurance binder..

I think my insurance company was just being difficult.
