Lowest inventory I've seen in the Shop for several weeks.

My *way too early* preferred interpretation is that supply chain issues are getting alleviated and they are better able to build to order. So Shop will not be necessary going forward.

Glad to see that there are folks taking these vehicles! Going on three months with my guide and still staring at an empty driveway, day-dreaming about all the adventures yet to come.

They are really trying hard to make Forest Edge a thing. I’m surprised they didn’t push it back like Ocean Coast to streamline deliveries.

My rough approximation of configs in the Shop was ~80-90% have been FE over the last month.

I think they are pushing the materials they have on hand. Also it's a price hike so added bonus for Rivian.

It is the same reason there are SO MANY yellow and red trucks always available in the Shop. Rivian will start a run of one the rare colors (<5% of trucks are yellow per this site's poll) and just keep building until the paint is used up, even though they don't have matching orders from prior to 2022.

I'd definitely take either the El Cap or FG with Forest Edge, if given the choice! Having said that I'm also surprised they didn't push it back. They must've really had a lot of the Forest Edge interiors hanging around.

A post 3/1 preorder may also be more inclined to accept differences in their configuration in order to not wait a couple years. People that have already been waiting for 3 years may want to continue for exactly what they want (or a bare minimum of what they want). Post 3/1 orders also don't have a so called "fixed price", so further incentive to take what is available (although at any time Rivian can charge their mind on pre 3/1 orders)

I am "only" a Sep 21 preorder, but I want 20's, underbody shield, and lately have been more inclined to wait for a max pack, I am in no rush, and "waiting" for a max pack gives Rivian time to improve software, hopefully further improve construction/build issues, and hopefully improve post delivery maintenance/service (although that can be hard as deliveries increase). I know there are many out there with no issues, others out there with acceptable issues, and probably a minor amount of severe issues.
I am in the exact same position and have the same thought process. If it is a matter of a few more months, I will wait for the Max pack. But, we have no idea if it is a few more months or years. They are more likely to delay Max pack customer deliveries than actually deliver them to customers on time. The lack of clarity around anything timing-wise is frustrating and makes it impossible to make a well informed decision that I wont' regret.
I've given up on the Max pack-too many unknowns still for me. But I still want 20" ATs and underbody shield.

Is the under body shield delaying things by weeks or months, or indefinitely? We don't know. Same thing with the 20" ATs. Is this delaying my order by weeks or indefinitely?

I have waited over 2 years, I can wait a few more weeks or months for my exact configuration. But if waiting for my exact configuration is 6+ months, well now that's a tough choice.

Still sitting on 0 available trucks in the DFW shop. Also no movement on my R1T Adv preorder from 7/2019. It must be something to do with the service center in DFW being still temporary with the final site almost complete. I mentioned this to my guide and he said that he had no insight into the service center timeline, but he would let his superiors know that there are no trucks in the DFW shop. I doubt that will do anything.
I have the same hunch as you. I've been pestering Rivian asking for updates on the Dallas service center. I was originally told end of July. I reached out today and they said they would get back to me. They also "confirmed" (taking the position) that the service center is not delaying any DFW orders or Shop inventory because "all necessary infrastructure is in place for Dallas".

Me too for daily driver! But why not take the 21s or 22s with the underbody and buy a set 20s for those “special” days with the $3,500 savings? Obviously swapping suuucks, but your daily mileage increase might offset that for the hassle? I know you don’t like FE, but no BM for ya either?
If it's purely a practical/number decision, sure that makes sense. But, it's also aesthetic. Personally, I think the 21" and 22" wheels are ugly in person. The 20" ATs look so much better. It's an adventure truck, you want it to look like it!

There are now 6 trucks left in the shop. 5/6 are FE and all are 21s. There were 13 a few days ago, a couple with dark 22s but those disappeared quickly. I went to San Diego SC today to see if I could look at FE in person. They didn't have any Forest Edge to see and all of their R1Ts were 20s. They did bring out a Rivian Blue from the back to show my wife and daughter. They approved! Definitely the 20s look the best but I will probably stick with 21s for efficiency/range. Just waiting for the "end of summer" email to see how far out Max Pack is pushed out. Will likely grab RB/BM/21 or 22 if it shows up in the shop though. Big "IF".

My opinion: buy now and if max really is that great, sell/trade and buy max. If max isn’t worth it, then you’ve already got the “right” truck, for less $$, and a year+ earlier.

At least, that’s my thought process.
I couldn’t do that if I wanted to. ?

I wonder what the Denver R1 inventory looks like. There has been a low amount of trucks in the lot for a couple of weeks. At least it appears that way. They could simply be getting a lot of them delivered.

I have to admit that potential changes to the climate bill does make me more likely to compromise on my choices for a 2022 delivery. Last update I had was DEC/JAN.

Anecdotally there are a few people on this forum who have preorders ranging from 7/20 to 1/21 who have started their 8 steps within the last 2 days with both 20s and underbody. I take this as a good sign that supply issues are easing. There was a long period where no one on the forum was reporting getting a truck with both 20s and underbody. Obviously highly speculative on my part.

Edit: It is my personal opinion that Max pack keeps getting pushed back. Best case first non-insider gets one a year from now.

This is why I gave up on the Max Pack and selected a truck from the shop. And after doing a 850+ mile road trip I think I'm fine without the Max Pack for now. However, Rivian has a long ways to go to replace my F250 and it's 1k mile range. Finger crossed battery tech changes considerably to support much more range and faster charging times.

just checked the SHOP. There are now 15 R1Ts. One CY has 20s. There are 2 with 22s (LA Silver 22 bright and a Midnight 22 Dark which looks cool!) and a few with BM interior. Not bad. But mostly FE and 21s in all body colors except GW.
