Fingers crossed you don’t get a Friday email telling you that you have to get an Adventure if you want a vehicle before 2024…or ever.
I too just got a THURSDAY email saying basically this very thing. Not stoked about it. I'm wondering if I am already waiting for the Max Pack, why do I care? MP and quad drive is really all I care about.

Call me old-fashioned, but you should always inform your current stakeholders of significant changes before sharing information publicly.

Good for you on being cool with the BM wood. You don't speak for everyone, however.
Also, to be clear, you don't have to get the BM wood with OC. That will just be available first, and a new design revealed later this year for delveries early next year.

I got an e-mail about it just now. Going into the configurator shows Explore still, but now says it's discontinued.

And now I just got an email from Rivian with the Ocean Coast update. I personally like OC more now.

Yeah, I saw the new designs in the email. The lighter vegan leather looks good, but something tells me they're gonna try to add an upcharge for it.

This is not an example of good corporate communication. I recognize communication to Explore package reservation holders in advance would not be a good idea, but it doesn’t take a corporate communications/marketing genius to figure out a mass email should go out to affected reservation holders at the same time the configurator and website copy is being refreshed.
Pretty sure those emails did go out, even if a few minutes after the website was updated.

Wrapped leather dash from the email. Looks like I'm sticking to the BM wood- DO NOT LIKE.

They should offer the brown or black wood with any interior color. The brown wood would probably look nice with BM or OC interior as well.

I'm pre march 1st so it doesn't matter anyway- OC was a zero cost trim.

For the post march 1st orders they should change OC to a 1k trim like tesla, kia, etc who also offer light grey interiors for 1k. Otherwise it doesn't make too much sense.
Sorry, was just having fun. Yellow paint doesn't cost more either but they clearly aren't pricing these options as cost-plus. Either it's "exclusive" and therefore more expensive or it's less likely that people will want it and therefore more expensive. I wouldn't expect much of a cost concession but who knows.

Just noticed on the Rivian configurator that the “Explore” package is no longer listed as an option on the R1S. They also updated the photos of Ocean Coast to official remove the lighter wood and replace it with the same wood in BM.

Walnut with black mountain interior would look great...

Also RJ mentioned offering a more "upscale" version of the R1 products. Maybe they have decided that there is more demand on the higher end versus the lower end. It's probably higher margins as well.

I could see some additional premium options like massaging seats, fancy leather options, heads up display, etc. It sucks for anyone looking to get in below $80k, but there seems to be so many people willing to buy premium products that I can't fault them while supply is limited.

I just noticed the same thing while checking out the updated Ocean Coast renders. Maybe Explore will return when demand subsides? Or maybe they will re-add it once they actually start building them. Odd to remove the option but not communicate anything to those that have it configured already.
That's because they already have the supplies to build the number of vehicles already in order ?
