Sounds like it'll have some legit offroad chops:

  • True trail-rated capability with Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks and aggressive off-road tires
  • Authentic Jeep open-air freedom with a one-touch powertop, removable doors and glass
  • The latest generation Uconnect system, including detailed travel guides of the most notable off-road trails
“The all-new, all-electric Jeep Recon has the capability to cross the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in the U.S., and reach the end of the trail with enough range to drive back to town and recharge,” said Meunier.

Jeep plans to be the global leader in electric SUVs by 2025, but they won't even have an all electric model on the road until 2024.

By the time the first of these hits the road, there will be about 100k Rivian R1 vehicles on the road with about 65k coming in 2024 and the R2 ready to launch in 2025.

Reminiscent of Mary Barra claiming that GM is the global leader in electric vehicles.

It’s FUGLY, but since it is Wrangler based (?) they will probably sell like hotcakes.

This is also why vertical integration is so important. With all the EV action comming, components will be in high demand, and Stellantis, Ford, GM....all carry really big sticks with suppliers....

"The final big reveal was what Jeep calls its all-new, all-electric Wagoneer model, currently codenamed Wagoneer S, and expected to be revealed next year in the US but targeting a global market. It will get a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup as standard, up to 600 horsepower (0 - 60 mph in 3.5 seconds) and the manufacturer is targeting a range of around 400 miles on one charge, thanks to a sleek, low-slung design that will make the vehicle as aerodynamically efficient as possible. Christian Meunier notes that

We’ll delight our customers with a premium, highly efficient SUV that is loaded with technology and high quality craftmanship, offering 4x4 capability, high performance, rapid acceleration and a target range of 400 miles on a single charge."

It seems like even though the vehicle is being built as a "ground, up" ev platform etc. It's going to use traditional components to underpin it. E- lockers etc. I'm also guessing, it will retain axles similar to those of old in order to keep the aftermarket accessories alive. While convenient, stifles real innovation.
