Just wanted to ask the guys with the trucks since the beginning if the drivers plus have improved a lot since the beginning.

I really hope it becomes available in the city soon

Ehhh, had it a few months. Last patch kinda made it worse for me, it seems to sway more in it's lane.

Agree. It worked much better 2 updates ago. The update before last was terrible. My experience was actually a bit unnerving as it would occasionally move rapidly back and forth as if it were hunting for the center of the lane. As a result, I stopped using it. Very unnerving.

The latest update has improved it slightly, but I still experience the hunting behavior occasionally although not as frequently.

I'd concur with the above sentiments. Ok, worse, then just slightly worse than when it was delivered to me.

Underwhelming so far. My AP1 Model S was significantly better.

Currently on a road trip with 2022.31.05. Previous trip was on 2022.27. It definitely has gotten worse. It sways back and forth. On one stretch it swayed heavily left and nearly threw me into a concrete divider.

Ugh, this is a huge downer. I've got a long while to wait before my Max Pack is delivered but the lack of any measurable improvements to Driver+ has me worried. I can't go back to road trips without a decent adas. I'm currently in denial about Driver+ not working on anything but major interstates.
This is the one issue that would make me flip my R1T and hold out for the Cybertruck.

Glad I’m not the only one! Tried using it today and got fed up and dropped down to ACC. Driver+ was oscillating from side-to-side in the lane and it was making me sick.

I would hope with more vehicles on the road they have more data to work with. Additionally they have spent a lot of IT resource on the other updates and enhancements (the additional modes, the tire pressure readout etc) as well as things like having two price configurators and the tax credit form. Hopefully now all that is done they can spend more of their IT resources on driver plus.

Absolutely same experience for me....it was far better prior to this update on lane control. On curves now it makes abrupt adjustments...

Driver+ is bad. I think it's trying to make millisecond by millisecond adjustments to keep you EXACTLY centered. So if the lines are off even by a small amount you end up swerving back and forth. I don't use it at all.

Off the highway I've found even the regular cruise control is equally bad. On my grand cherokee my driving pattern was to stick my car on cruise control any time I hit a patch of road with few / no stop llights. Well the Rivian phantom breaks ALL THE TIME on surface streets. Curves, cars parked on the side of the road, pedestrians, etc all cause phantom breaking. I've had to stop using it.

Rivian's engineers have taken something industry standard for 10+ years and made it substantially worse.

PS No I have not logged a ticket.

I really hope the people working on their backend business systems aren’t the same ones designing life-safety equivalent software like Driver+.

Well this all really sucks to hear as I already bought the truck...I really use autopilot 95% of my drives and to not have it would absolutely suck.

I hope they are going to develop it more and not throw it on the back burner...I test drove the Ford lightning and even that was pretty good for the drivers assist stuff

I’m sure it will get better over time. My Tesla AP1 improved a lot over the first few years.

I will say though it was not uncommon to take a step or 2 back on some of the OTA updates. Make sure you really test the behavior after each OTA to get a new baseline for the latest software level.

Ioniq 5 / XLT Lightning Standard
Pretty disappointing to hear. The driving assistant features would be a big selling point for me wanting to trade my XLT lightning for the rivian. It sounds like they are subpar even when working.

It should be able to match and exceed my Ioniq 5 SEL, but doesn't sound like it.

What I want out of the "box"

ACC on all roads
Lane centering on all roads (that have lines)

Whatever the more "advanced" driver+ is on freeways. Ioniq 5 pretty much just adds lane changes and automatic stop and go.

That's everything my Ioniq 5 does and it has a lot less sensors/cameras.

In the future it should have park assist features based on all the sensors.

The phantom braking kills me and is dangerous. The fact that you can barely use Driver+ on highways... A joke. The fact that you cant change settings when in Driver+/cruise control... A joke. Maybe instead of driving from Chile to USA, they should've driven Route 66 and worked on "on road" performance. The only saving grace... It's software and as such it'll get better eventually... But may get worse in the mean time as we've seen.
