I get why people say/do this. I'm the type that only buys one vehicle every 10 years. And spend a couple years researching before pulling the trigger. So I don't mind the wait, but want what I want. Already planning on cutting out the back seat so I can put a toolbox back there (to make up for the short bed)... Yeah, probably not the typical Rivian customer, LOL. ??
What are you going to do with the subwoofer back there and the storage compartment underneath the seats? I don't think a tool box would sit very well back there like a pack rat or something unless you had other ideas.

What are you going to do with the subwoofer back there and the storage compartment underneath the seats? I don't think a tool box would sit very well back there like a pack rat or something unless you had other ideas.
If you do a google image search for things like "truck back seat toolbox" a ton of different ideas come up. Personally I need a toolbox more than a subwoofer (so that could go), but am sure it wouldn't be too difficult to fab something that goes over it, as well. E.g.:

Also check out the videos of the Rivian Mobile Service R1T, to see how Rivian is utilizing the gear tunnel and replacing the back seats with tool storage for their own use.

Max pack loses 1 cuft of storage space, which is about the size of the rear storage area under the seat. It would also explain why they chose to use welded/integrated structure there. There is room for two modules behind the rear of the pack and one more spot in the space under the seat.
The reduction in under seat storage is unconfirmed. I don't think Rivian has released any official details on the Max Pack configuration.

Really, until we get a production update on it, which I've been told should come in December, we are just taking info available to the community and filling the void with theories.

I'm still thinking it would be very cool to have the R1S with a maxpack. I'd definitely consider that option and likely get an R1S. But nothing wrong with the R1T other than it does not seat as many people.
Technically you can put people in the bed if you’ve used up all the seatbelts in the cab, unless the highway traffic act has been updated

Also, power output has changed to keep performance in line with the 135 kWh pack apparently according to RJ in '21 I believe during an interview. Take it with a grain of salt as things change.

The truck was originally supposed to be 770 hp and they shipped it with 835. I have to wonder how much room they really have left on the motors.

I called my insurance agent (State Farm) to obtain insurance on my R1T and she asked if it was a Max Pack. I assume it will be available s0–0n.
Maybe they are delivering to employees already :-o

I agree. My original order was a two row R1S max pack. Buy I'm fine with the R1T, and like the longer wheel base. The market for a 400 mile three row is probably large, but Rivian will still sell out of the S for a few years.

I don't think Ford will offer longer range until they come out with "from the ground up" large EVs. The current frame rails of the F150 restrict pack size. Undoubtedly a max pack Lightning would be popular.
Impressive that the addition 45kWh is weightless
