Sorry completely spaced getting the torque specs because I was looking at the R1s in limestone on 22 dark. that I happen to

Vin 5719. Scheduled a mobile visit to torque the nut on Monday morning... I'm impressed with the 2 day turn around. I'm in San Jose, CA and heard from the local body shop that Rivian hires for paint work, that Rivian is opening a service center very soon here in San Jose. Sweet! I think they'll be about 2 miles form my house. I'm waiting to create a ticket for my window seals that are wonky.

Torque summary from this thread:

First, this is all just rumor until we see it on Rivian docs.

One person saw 122 flash on wrench when they got their vehicle checked. They guessed that was foot-pounds.

Another person reports 90 ft-lbs.

Yet another said 120 without specifying a unit.

FWIW, 90 ft-lbs = 122 newton-meters.

Possible that not all vehicles have the same spec?

I live in Provo and had the same question, I posted same question on Facebook Utah Rivian Club site but haven't heard anything back yet. I'll let you know if they have a drive thru/no appointment necessary if I get confirmation.

There have been no failures to date and this is a voluntary recall. It would be a good idea to get the part torqued down when you return but there is very little reason to worry.
There absolutely have been failures.

Confirmed Costa Mesa and El Segundo open on Sunday just for these recalls. What a way to show the urgency to get as many checked as soon as possible!

Just got this email today. Have a mobile appointment on Monday and I talked to the advisor today. No mention that they'd be fixing this.

Rivian Automotive, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2022 Rivian R1T, R1S, and EDV vehicles. The subject population is comprised of model year 2022 R1T and R1S vehicles built during a 13-month period, and, a subset of EDVs produced between December 10, 2021 and September 27, 2022, in which records cannot confirm that the front upper control arm and the steering knuckle retention fastener for each front wheel was sufficiently torqued. This notice applies to your vehicle, VIN.
What is the problem?
An insufficiently torqued steering knuckle fastener could cause excessive wheel camber, or, in rare instances, a separation, affecting the driver’s ability to control the vehicle, and increasing the risk of a crash.
What will Rivian do?
Rivian will offer Mobile Service appointments, no appointment needed visits to Rivian Service Centers or pop-up service locations, and prioritized appointments at Rivian Service Centers to inspect and, as necessary, sufficiently secure the steering knuckle fasteners for the affected vehicles. For the very small percentage where parts replacements are required, loaner vehicles will be made available while the vehicle is brought into a Rivian Service Center. As needed, trip interruption and towing services will be available at no cost to you.
What should you do?
If you have further questions, please call Rivian Service at 1-855-748-4265. For additional information please visit our Support Center. The official recall notice will be posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on October 8, 2022.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. The quality and safety of your vehicle is of the utmost importance to us.
I like the part where is says, " Thank you for your attention to this important matter. The quality and safety of your vehicle is of the utmost importance to us." It sounds as if the car is being driven without me because the safety of the occupant is no concern to them?

Yeah same. My vin ends with 7534. Curious how the mobile service works as I'm about 5 hours away from the nearest service center.
Drive carefully and have a sling parachute ready to eject because the safety of your car is outmost concern not you according to the email.

West Sacramento center open with a drive through setup. No appointment needed. Didn’t even have to get out of the truck.

Does anyone know the correct torque spec? I just put my truck in its highest ride height and turn to the front wheel so that I could access the fastener and found it to be easily tightened with a 22 mm wrench. I snugged it down with about a half a turn but it would be nice to know the exact correct torque spec. I'm obviously still going to have mobile service come out and take a look, but in the meantime I would feel a lot better if I was able to just torque the nut down myself. For the time being I'm just going to make it as tight as I can with a wrench.

Don't quote me but some owners have taken glances at the torque wrenches while the techs were tightening the nuts and found it to be 122 NM or 90 ft lb. I called the Service Center but obviously they're not willing to give me the torque specs.

I just took delivery of my R1T on October 5th, Wednesday. It’s like, what the hell, they had my vehicle at the service center in Chelsea, MA.(Boston area) 2 days ago before delivery to my home. They could have fixed it then. ?
Being in MA I need to get an inspection sticker within 7 days of registration. They’re real stickler’s about that. They lock up my whole family.
Wished they would have gotten my sticker hen they registered it for me. Dealers usually do that for you. Guess I’ll have to ge

I just took delivery of my R1T on Wednesday Oct 5. It was delivered from the Boston service center (Chelsea, Ma actually). ? 2 days ago they could have checked it ?.
Being in Massachusetts I need to get an vehicle inspection sticker within 7 days of registration. I don’t know why Rivian didn’t do that for me.
Come Monday I’ll have 2 days to get a sticker or local police will lock up my whole family. ?. Ma. Is tough on this for some reason.
Anyway, it is what it is. Maybe I’ll get some kind of grace period. Be nice if they came to my home to do it. I’m about 1 hour and fifteen minutes away. I’ll have to call on Monday.
Good luck to everyone on this.

Just got back from the San Diego service center. They have stations setup in the parking lot for performing the check. Only a couple people there when I arrived, and it didn't take long at all.

If you call the customer service number before you go in, they will open the workorder ahead of time and the process will go a little faster when you arrive, but that's not required.

The customer service rep said these stations are open 7 days a week at this SC.
