I wonder if this is part of the problem with my preorder.

I have a 2019 R1S, LA Silver (never changed from the first day the configuration went live), black mountain, and 20” AT wheels (this was changed once, in early 2022 I think). Like others, I didn’t spec a Launch edition because I wanted the max pack which wouldn’t be available until 2021.

My window went from Oct-Dec 2022 to 1H 2023 to “processing estimate” which appears to mean ”indefinite delay.”

I got the email that says basically I live too far from a service center to get a delivery estimate.

I live less than 5 miles from an open, active service center (in a straight line. It’s an 11 minute drive in traffic).
WOW! That is the most egregious example of being screwed by Rivian with this R1S LAS I have heard. Our stories are similar but I am a 2020 reservation dude.

I live about 2 h from a service center received a 2024 estimate...which may not be better than what you got. Perhaps they will squeeze you into a 2023 time slot. I doubt when January ends that I have a window that is not in 2024.

Holy… Ditto as @KingTodd. I was irate before with a 2024 delivery estimate, but I ordered 11/20. Live 24 miles from the Phoenix SC. Black Mountain, 20” darks, ADV pkg.

Here’s hoping they realize how much they’re ignoring LA Silver R1S orders and insert another batch build in 2023 and you (we all) get pulled-in.

I ordered late 2018 and currently am still waiting until second half of 2023 for projected delivery. I haven't changed my configuration since I entered it when they first allowed me to. I also skipped the Launch Edition for the bigger battery pack. I'm less than 20 miles away from Cleveland service center. Anyone know when they stopped offering the LE?

Based on some of the posts I have read, it seems to me that the largest push-back in delivery windows was made for R1S LA Silver orders that were not Launch Editions.

If you have a preorder for an R1S LA Silver, can you please list old window, new window, order date, and config below? I am curious if my hunch is correct or if I just am individually really unlucky.
1H 2023, now 2024
October 2020
R1S Adventure, OC with dark wood, 21" , Quad motor

I have a hunch that the R1S LA silvers with original pricing are so low margin that unless they are Launch Editions, Rivian really has put zero thought into producing them. That is why they got put into 2024 which is the same as saying "no consideration given to putting into a production plan"

Lastly, PLEASE keep this limited to R1S with the LA Silver color.

EDIT:
Adding link to Tablue dashboard from Reddit thread on this subject. You can adjust filters to see how people reported windows based upon configurations

LA Silver here. Was 1st half 2023. Now 2024. Ordered 1/2021. 21” wheels, black mountain with wood. No underbody. Changed to white at advice of a nameless employee and I am awaiting a new date in January. Hopefully it changes? Fear I am 2024 either way now. Maybe we will be first to get shot at R1S shop if that happens.

Since you got the email about service location, have you reached out to Rivian? That seems like an error they need to particularly/individually look into.

I‘ve reached out, but zero followup so far. Just sent a third email (all unanswered) and have gotten people on the phone who agreed it’s odd and promised to get back to me.

it’ll be two weeks tomorrow though with no follow up yet.

To add insult to injury, I just saw a new launch green R1T in my neighborhood (not one I’d seen before, this one had different “vanity” tags).

LE sold out first day or 2 that the configurator opened in November 2020.

I am tempted to pick one of the cheaper colors to "buy" an earlier window, which I think it's the game Rivian trying to play.

If any if you all do "buy" a new window buy altering your config, PLEASE update this thread and/or email me. I am really curious which really Rivian despises more - LAS or altering your config which "almost always will result in a later delivery window" or whatever their email said.

I have a feeling I will be further penalized for making a change. I still am trying with the “free” colors, white this time. I’m not trying to be cheap, but I want a light “color” in sunny Colorado. Maybe I should have done limestone? At this point, I’m slowly becoming resigned to the idea of 2024. Will only have one kid out of 4 in a car seat at that point. Also might have some build quality issues worked out by then. Trying to stay positive!

I thought most white R1S orders are also 2024 with the most recent update.

There are a lot of R1S Whites in 2024 according to the link in the OP, but the majority are in 2023. So many of the 2024 likely were later orders....I guess I could check that on that same link rather than just post it without verifying it.

Why is LA silver mostly in 2024, then? I just don't understand the motive.

Same here. I can only speculate that it is the lowest margin R1S to build, so they pushed it the furthest which is complete BS.
Imagine buying airline tickets and the airline pushes out your reservation because they can make more on selling tickets to those that ordered more recently.
