What model year is Rivian currently using, 2022?

Nerdwallet is a waste of time, only list Insurify and they don't have a Rivian option.

The Zebra comes back with 3 companies I've never heard of for $143-$237 a month.

Experian also did not have Rivian but I put in Tesla just to see and it came back with one company I've never heard of for $895 a month? WTF?

Looks like all the comparison sites are a joke.

CA is an expensive state to insure and register a Rivian.

An R1T is roughly $1k to register with the DMV and about $150 per month to ensure.

They still want like $1200 for 6 months. Nationwide is much cheaper for the same coverage. Like half.

Living in Colorado is just stupid expensive for insurance. The exact same coverage I pay $236/month here would cost only $95/month at two of my previous addresses in other states. This is for a guy in his mid 30s with no accidents or tickets.

Colorado has always been expensive for insurance. Combination of weather, recreational activities, bad drivers and also has the highest rate of vehicle theft In the US.

Just got a quote from Rivian insurance. It was $996 for 6 months here in Colorado which is great because my Tesla is $1,171 for the same coverage.

If it makes you feel any better, the personal property tax on an R1T in Fairfax County, Virginia is over $2k/yr.

Counties charging an assessed rate per $1,000 $100 of a vehicle's value. Just another local government revenue stream.

Example - Loudoun County in VA has an assessment of $4.20 per $100 of a vehicle's value.

I shopped all the big names: Nationwide, Allstate, StateFarm, Geico, Traveler's, Progressive, Amica, AAA, Liberty Mutual and USAA. I also used a few comparison sites.

Policy details for 2022 R1T and 2022 Mustang Mach-E Premium

• 250k/500k/250k
• $250 comprehensive deductible and $500 collision deductible
• Accident forgiveness and vanishing deductible where applicable,
• $50/day rental and $200 disablement/tow
• Glass coverage where applicable

My findings for rates based in Delaware:

• Geico was the lowest rate at $825/6mo
• Rivian's insurance through nationwide is 30-50% higher, over a standard Nationwide rate
  • Example:
    • Rivian quoted $2150/6mo
    • Nationwide quoted $1490/6mo
• USAA was decent at first, but after a record pull, they doubled the rate. We have 1 accident from 2019 that changed the rate.
• I was previously insured with Allstate and they wanted $2300/6mo
• Statefarm, Traveler's, Progressive and Amica were about the same around $1800/6mo
• Liberty Mutual came in just over $1600/6mo
• AAA quoted $3100/1yr
