Small improvements and tweaks which benefited the product, but cost us a little time:

1 - Extended length of running boards. FYI - one of the early photos was an early prototype that was sorter than we always planned anyway. We still follow the scallop design on the side cladding, but we extended both the front and rear length for a total +3.7". We maintain appropriate clearance to the body cladding that 'dips' down in the front/rear edges.

2 - Revised the bracket design to minimize underside aero impact and tuck it in tighter to body, and retain compatibility with plastic cover re-use.

3 - increased bracket structural design to increase overall system rigidity without compromising underside aero or ground clearance.

4 - Clearanced plate brackets so design feature is clear through (doesn't trap water and dirt).

5 - Modified brackets again for easier plastic cover clearancing. A lot of work went into these brackets!

Yes for sure!

Option 1 - take off the 6 plastic panels (3 per side) and leave them off.
Option 2 - modify the plastic panels for clearance to our brackets and re-install them

What does modification look like? It is MINOR trimming. We will at least provide the template, and you can easily DIY with snips, razor, or hd scissors. Pics coming....

these are the plastic covers from one side:

Reinstalled, they fit nicely - we designed specifically to allow these to be re-installed with minimal mods.

That's great news. I still would like to see what a modified panel looks like, where the four brackets come out - but you keep sending photos of only the bracket-free front or rear, or unmodified stock panel as above... This as been an open request for some time....

You did provide a CAD view before the holidays, showing small slits only (where the brackets pass through the side of the plastic plate), but never a full installed or bracket penetration view. Please do.

These changes sound great! I'm looking forward to the installation video to see more, but it definitely seems like it fixes most of the concerns I had.

For example, the brackets appear almost completely hidden under the plastic, and it appears that you only need to cut the top edge of the plastic, rather than a through-hole. At least, that's what I'm hoping.

Is there any concern with noise from vibration with the cantilevered portion that appears to touch on the frame inboard of the bolt connection?

Screenshot 2023-01-04 151034.jpg

I would believe there would be enough tolerance in your bends that they may not always be in intimate contact with the frame which would introduce an area for rattle or buzzing.
If you're worried about it, put some urethane sealer on that tab before installing.

because there is no need.

Can you elaborate on why? Seems like it would be simple to add additional strength with a small addition for load distribution and reinforce the 3-fold ?

Updates rolling gang...(will be a few posts; and we will email all pre-order folks directly as well)

Let's start with these images:

Any plan to offer other plate designs? My brain can't get past these cut-outs looking an awful lot like the star of david.

This is a fairly complex load system, not something we just winged - factors the Rivian frame as well. We achieved proper load rating and rigidity with our 4 bracket design. The load is more properly spread across the frame. Using less brackets, like 2 or 3, puts too much load on the Rivian subframe - the subframe is not strong enough. So you can make the bracket a full square tube, but it won't matter or help, because the Rivian frame attachment point is weaker. There is no gain from adding a second side to the bracket; as it is, the Rivian frame bends before our brackets. Make sense?

Hard for me to really tell how big that plate is but since I have my panels off right now, easy enough to take a photo of the area that's missing from the OP's photos. Bolt holes they are probably using are circled.

Cutout details - this is fairly easy to DIY (the plastic is thin and flimsy). We will provide templates for precision cutting. And again, this trimming is optional. You can simply leave the plastic trim off if preferred.

Here is a look at an EARLY prototype. You can see the production bracket by comparison - all you need is a thin slot of clearance.

EXCITED that they are apparently on their way!! THANK YOU.

Still struggling with how "busy" those logos appear to be. Hoping they blend in better when they're actually on the truck. With a white background, they sure do distract the eyes.

I guess if I don't like it, can find a way to fabricate something to cover them up from underneath so the brightness doesn't come through. Or if I really want to go wild, can fabricate new plates for it, if they are just bolt on plates.

Other than that, they look great. In this case, "function" is what's most important to me. Look forward to the utility they will provide.

Thanks again for all the hard work.

So it looks like we still have to cut holes in the middle of the plastic panels, which means that if we want to remove those panels in the future, we have to remove the running boards too.

That's less than optimal. I was really hoping to avoid that situation. While I already have pucks for lifting, having to remove the running boards to get work done (by Rivian, for example) seems like it could possibly be a bad situation (and I don't want to leave the panels off).
