If this is what you'd like to do, it is 100% doable. Simply cut like this. We did this, works fine. Panels slide off, no need to remove running boards:
I agree on all counts. I appreciate the work the vendor is doing, but I don’t want *any* aftermarket manufacturers logo on my truck 1000x.Please consider this constructive criticism and not me bashing these guys. I truly appreciate that the vendors in this community are trying to rapidly prototype and bring new innovations to this growing market.
I was an early pre-order based on the original mockup (tho at the time I thought it was a real photo until someone pointed out it was a photoshop). I hung on through numerous discussions and updates as the design was refined to its current state. I think @EV Sportline has done a pretty good job letting folks know as things were evolving, though there were some times when questions would go unanswered for quite a while. Functionally, it looks like a solid design that should serve its purpose well.
That said, the reason I ended up cancelling my pre-order (props to EV Sportline for handling it as professionally as they said they would) was because of a couple aesthetic changes. This feels silly in hindsight, but I know it's a visible piece of my vehicle that I'd have to look at every time I climbed into the cabin.
I'm glad to see there's competition developing for these boards / sliders, and I trust that many of you will be thrilled with your purchase. Hope to see many of these IRL and that my decision was a silly one.
- The middle of the running board is wider than the ends, giving it an unusual appearance that breaks up the clean lines of the truck.
- The laser-cut pattern in the running board reminds me of a Louis Vuitton purse. Sorry, I just can't un-see that now.
Tread plate bolts-on for a few reasons, one in particular is that looks are subjective! It is very easy for us to laser different design, no designs, custom designs. We love everyone's opinions - feedback has definitely helped sculpt our products! Don't let that tread plate worry you....it's an EASY thing for us
In the originally released photo, which turned out to be a photo shop image, it appeared that the metal was stamped with the logos, but not pass through holes. 1EV later corrected us in stating they have always been holes rather than impressions into the metal.
Gang to be clear, the only thing photoshopped on the original was the part onto the truck (mounting brackets were being fab'd). It had the same laser design features (pattern has evolved some, to be clear of Rivian's pattern). It's a tread pattern design. We call it a logo on this particular product, but the product brand logo is 1EV - which is not on the product. But as mentioned, it's easy to make less, more, bigger, smaller, none at all. Stay tuned!
Funny, I had EXACTLY the same thought, but didn't want to say it!
The middle section bow-out, this is functional and by design. It bows out giving a little more tread width where you use the step, getting into the truck. It tapers in front and rear, where you dont use the step and where we are working to stay out of the air stream. Maybe the photo angles and off-truck images are causing a little fisheye, but in person and on the truck it is very subtle and looks nice. Thanks, but still not clear what that cut out is for.... a) that part of the bracket that connects to the running board or, b) that part of the bracket that has the protruding bump for the cantilever arm? Does each bracket require one or two "cut outs"? It feels like I'm pushing rope/chain here to get clear information about all of the mods that are required to each plastic panel for all four brackets on each side of the truck. Seriously, it shouldn't be too hard to clearly answer these questions. Thank you.Cutout details - this is fairly easy to DIY (the plastic is thin and flimsy). We will provide templates for precision cutting. And again, this trimming is optional. You can simply leave the plastic trim off if preferred.
