This is a fairly complex load system, not something we just winged - factors the Rivian frame as well. We achieved proper load rating and rigidity with our 4 bracket design. The load is more properly spread across the frame. Using less brackets, like 2 or 3, puts too much load on the Rivian subframe - the subframe is not strong enough. So you can make the bracket a full square tube, but it won't matter or help, because the Rivian frame attachment point is weaker. There is no gain from adding a second side to the bracket; as it is, the Rivian frame bends before our brackets. Make sense?

Thanks for the reply. I see what you are saying, hope you see load ratings and rigidity test videos when completed!

This is the logo:

Hard to translate to a laser'd design. This is likely to be the go ahead, those little corner slits are really small for a laser and powder coat. If needed, the out slits would get dropped:

So it looks like we still have to cut holes in the middle of the plastic panels, which means that if we want to remove those panels in the future, we have to remove the running boards too.

That's less than optimal. I was really hoping to avoid that situation. While I already have pucks for lifting, having to remove the running boards to get work done (by Rivian, for example) seems like it could possibly be a bad situation (and I don't want to leave the panels off).
If this is what you'd like to do, it is 100% doable. Simply cut like this. We did this, works fine. Panels slide off, no need to remove running boards:

Please consider this constructive criticism and not me bashing these guys. I truly appreciate that the vendors in this community are trying to rapidly prototype and bring new innovations to this growing market.

I was an early pre-order based on the original mockup (tho at the time I thought it was a real photo until someone pointed out it was a photoshop). I hung on through numerous discussions and updates as the design was refined to its current state. I think @EV Sportline has done a pretty good job letting folks know as things were evolving, though there were some times when questions would go unanswered for quite a while. Functionally, it looks like a solid design that should serve its purpose well.

That said, the reason I ended up cancelling my pre-order (props to EV Sportline for handling it as professionally as they said they would) was because of a couple aesthetic changes. This feels silly in hindsight, but I know it's a visible piece of my vehicle that I'd have to look at every time I climbed into the cabin.
  1. The middle of the running board is wider than the ends, giving it an unusual appearance that breaks up the clean lines of the truck.
  2. The laser-cut pattern in the running board reminds me of a Louis Vuitton purse. Sorry, I just can't un-see that now.
I'm glad to see there's competition developing for these boards / sliders, and I trust that many of you will be thrilled with your purchase. Hope to see many of these IRL and that my decision was a silly one. :)

I agree on all counts. I appreciate the work the vendor is doing, but I don’t want *any* aftermarket manufacturers logo on my truck 1000x.

Tread plate bolts-on for a few reasons, one in particular is that looks are subjective! It is very easy for us to laser different design, no designs, custom designs. We love everyone's opinions - feedback has definitely helped sculpt our products! Don't let that tread plate worry you....it's an EASY thing for us :)

In the originally released photo, which turned out to be a photo shop image, it appeared that the metal was stamped with the logos, but not pass through holes. 1EV later corrected us in stating they have always been holes rather than impressions into the metal.

I certainly wouldn't mind ONE or TWO of their logos. They produced it and no problem with them putting their stamp on it. But, there's just so, so, so many of them! And with light passing through, really appear to stand out. A bit (or a lot) overkill for me.

That and the thought of how much dirt and grime they will allow to be kicked up and through from the tires, especially on rainy days is another concern.

Also, no idea if allowing wind to pass through those holes will create any added cabin noise?

I'm still all-in and getting them as I truly want the function offered by running boards, but hoping they are just bolt on plates that maybe (fingers crossed), they'll offer an alternative plate in the future. Another revenue stream for them as many will likely purchase a solid plate if offered as an alternative.

In the meantime, if the holes stand out as much as they appear to, or too much dirt and grime gets through, I'll certainly be seeking my own alternative to put a black piece of something on the bottom to keep dirt and light from passing through.

Hopefully, turns out to be just needless worrying and they end up looking great once on the truck. I've never seen a factory running board or bar with holes in them. So, just not something I've been able to see and adjust to. Time will tell. In any case, will LOVE having a step to use to get in and out of the truck!

Gang to be clear, the only thing photoshopped on the original was the part onto the truck (mounting brackets were being fab'd). It had the same laser design features (pattern has evolved some, to be clear of Rivian's pattern). It's a tread pattern design. We call it a logo on this particular product, but the product brand logo is 1EV - which is not on the product. But as mentioned, it's easy to make less, more, bigger, smaller, none at all. Stay tuned!

Any plan to offer other plate designs? My brain can't get past these cut-outs looking an awful lot like the star of david.
Funny, I had EXACTLY the same thought, but didn't want to say it!

The middle section bow-out, this is functional and by design. It bows out giving a little more tread width where you use the step, getting into the truck. It tapers in front and rear, where you dont use the step and where we are working to stay out of the air stream. Maybe the photo angles and off-truck images are causing a little fisheye, but in person and on the truck it is very subtle and looks nice. This maybe a better angle:

Cutout details - this is fairly easy to DIY (the plastic is thin and flimsy). We will provide templates for precision cutting. And again, this trimming is optional. You can simply leave the plastic trim off if preferred.

Here is a look at an EARLY prototype. You can see the production bracket by comparison - all you need is a thin slot of clearance.

Screenshot 2023-01-04 at 3.52.14 PM.webp
Thanks, but still not clear what that cut out is for.... a) that part of the bracket that connects to the running board or, b) that part of the bracket that has the protruding bump for the cantilever arm? Does each bracket require one or two "cut outs"? It feels like I'm pushing rope/chain here to get clear information about all of the mods that are required to each plastic panel for all four brackets on each side of the truck. Seriously, it shouldn't be too hard to clearly answer these questions. Thank you.

Kind of wishing I'd brought up these concerns before cancelling my pre-order. Oh well, live and learn. Looking forward to a bunch of happy owners soon.

I have to agree with previous posters that a non-cutout design would be better. Plain diamond plate type surface for me please!
