Alexa Texting

Amazon Alexa works pretty well for a lot of things but I keep getting a message when I want to text that asks me to setup SMS in my Alexa App. Its enabled on my android phone and the contact sync for phone and text checked on in the R1T. But still no luck. Called support but they told me I was the first to ask about this...nor did they really understand the question. Anyone have any insight on this?

I have the same issue... Never have been able to get you know who to text, so I just ask the other you know who (Siri) to take care of it and she has no problem obliging.

Opened up a ticket with Rivian with no response. Been two weeks need to call...again

There are several threads on this. It appears to not be a concern on Rivians future updates as no action has been taken. As more R1S deliver I assume this will be a bigger gripe. Let's keep sending notes to our guides and Rivian.

They have already stated that they are actively working on a text messaging feature, but it most likely won't utilize Alexa.

I have a service appointment for another Alexa gripe (glitchy music; seems to be associated with the motors in accel/decel). I also reported your SMS concern, as I have the same issue. I'll let you know if they can fix it. Appt is 9 July...

Can't you use OK Google on Android for texts? I use Siri to text on my iPhone while driving all the time.

Yes, of course, but that’s not the point. This is a known gripe and they should be able to fix it.

There is nothing to "fix" when it isn't a feature currently offered in the Rivians. It is a feature they are working on and say should come out s00n.

Yeah I hear you. It’s not a big deal, but the SC said “hmm, we should be able to rectify that.” Guess we’ll see!
