OK, I am trying to take some simple temperature mesuraments of my car's temperature before and after installing the ceramic tint. I got the car today and I am doing an installation of the XPel XR+ ceramic tint around all windows, windshield and pano roof tomorrow. I will post the levels I do tomorrow. I decided to do take some basic temperatures in the car to see how the film improves or doesn't improve two areas:
Will do the first experiment on Tuesday 6/13/23 and then the film will be installed on Wednesday, and will repeat the experiment on 6/15/23, Thursday and hopefully we get the same exact weather conditions.
I will measure temperatures in Center Dash, Center Steering Wheel, Passenger seat (on shaded area) , Windshield glass, Center of second row seats, Headrest of passenger and Pano glass.
The car will be parked in an area with no tree shade and will let it run for about 10 minutes around 1:50 PM until it hits 80 at the cabin app temp. Then at 2PM will turn it off.
I got my car ceramic tinted yesterday and unfortunately/fortunately the shop did not realize their 48inch roll for the pano roof didn't have enough to cover it. Now I need to go on Saturday to do the roof, but this presents a great opportunity to do 3 mesuraments. The one I already did with no ceramic, the second one that will be done today with tinted windows and windshield, and Saturday I will do the final one with all glass covered.
As a reference Xpel XR+: Windshield 55%, Front Windows 20%, rest of windows and panoramic roof 70%. The 20% in front windows and 70% on back ones gave a lot of privacy, and they look almost identical, front ended at 16 and back 18.
UPDATE 6/15/2023:
Update after ceramic on Windows.
These are the metrics, the first block is just the temperatures from the iPhone, and the app or the cabin, the second block is the mesuraments of car surfaces, the third one is glass measurements.
Observations:
6/13/23. 93F outside today, with a little breeze.
- Helping keep the car cool while parked.
- Helping recover from parked to cool.

- First temp data: 2PM, will turn air completely off and measure all spots.
- Second temp data: 2:20PM (simulating a 20 minute grocery shop stop) will get in the car quickly and measure again with the AC off.
- Third temp data: 3:00PM (simulating a one hour stop) will get all measures and then turn air on to 70F, all the way up in the fan setting, with no recirculation and default air vent orientation and no seats vent.
- Forth temp data: 3:05 PM (Drive around the block for 5 minutes at about 35mph after turning on air). This is to simulate a realistic scenario were ceramic dissipates heat faster as soon as air circulates in window.
- Fifth temp temp data 3:10 PM. Will Park, then turn on air recirculation and take another temp check 5 minutes after parking.

Observations:
- For the second test, Ceramic W(Ceramic Window) the day was clearly hotter than the first day, temp was around 95 instead of 93 and there was 0 breeze today.
- I believe it almost took 5 minutes the first day for the car app to show 80F and today it was about 3 minute, so I think I started this second test with not all surfaces at similar temperatures as the first one, you can see that the original has better 2PM temps, and those should have been the same to compare an identical starting point
- The interior surfaces of the car improved a lot with ceramic, but, as expected, the windshield with ceramic was a lot hotter than the one without it, but it did not let that heat come in.
- One of the mesuraments taken at the center of back seat was worse with ceramic+w than the original, I realized that the back air vents were pointing away from the point I was measuring, which yesterday they were directly pointing at it.
6/13/23. 93F outside today, with a little breeze.
