What inspection?Felt weird going for inspection. One guy asked if I was confused. Another guy asked if it was a cybertruck. Hadn’t heard of Rivian.

Florida used to have vehicle inspection but did away with it about 30 years ago. It was a total rip-off.TX requires annual inspection make sure lights work, blinkers, etc
huh. i wonder what california requires for the rivian! i hope they make me do a smog check lol.TX requires annual inspection make sure lights work, blinkers, etc
until you get hit by the a$$clown with bald tires and bad brakes...Florida used to have vehicle inspection but did away with it about 30 years ago. It was a total rip-off.

I'm curious as to why you feel that way? We have inspection in Pennsylvania and the vast majority of things they inspect for fuction and integrity - lights, tires, brakes, suspension - apply equally to EV or ICE. The only thing that would not apply here is emissions insepction, and that's been a separate fee forever.Inspections required in MA and NY as far as I know. Seems a bit of a waste for EVs but reasonable for ICEs.
As a note, the Rivian service center (at least in Chelsea, MA) does not perform State Inspections anyhow.....so even a MA resident (like me) will pick up, and have 7 days according to State law to obtain an inspection sticker...Here in New Hampshire all vehicles (including EVs) are required to undergo a state-mandated inspection at the initial point of sale, and annually thereafter at the dealership or at a state-approved service center. Because I picked up my R1T in Boston, it did not have the necessary NH state inspection certification, so I had to find a place to complete the inspection. When I dropped it off I had to show them how to find the odometer, which showed just 140 miles. It was a weird and slightly unsettling experience, given how completely ignorant the service guys were of Rivian. In fact after about 5 minutes they had to admit that they didn't know "how to start the engine".
I have to take mine for initial inspection. I use a small independent I have known for years. I talked to the mechanic while the Rivian was on order, he said he wants to see it and would be happy to inspect it, but I have to help him, lol. The first inspection should be a simple "lick and stick".Here in New Hampshire all vehicles (including EVs) are required to undergo a state-mandated inspection at the initial point of sale, and annually thereafter at the dealership or at a state-approved service center.
