Long term owners with Ocean Coast interiors: How is it holding up?

It’s getting to be the bewitching hour when I take delivery on my R1S, and need to lock in the configuration. I’ve always assumed that I would get the Black Mountain interior but I recently took a close look at the Ocean Coast and it is really good looking. I’m concerned about the clean-ability and the durability. Anyone out there with a Ocean Coast interior want to share their experience?

Ever spill anything on the seats? Clean up well?

Also 7 months for me, cleans up easily.. had some dirt stains on the top of the center console.. came right up with car cleaning wipes. Seats still look like new...

It's a beautiful option for the interior, I get tons of compliments on it... don't worry about it, just enjoy!!

I also ceramic coated but wouldn't worry about the white vinyl seat material. I think the only stuff that will dirty in time is the white or light colored stitching if gets stained, oils on it, etc. I got ketchup on the seat the other day and don't notice it at all, but tiny bit in stitching took some wet cleaning to get out.

If you decide that you want to ditch the white interior, I’ll gladly swap you for black. Brand new rarely used black. Almost constantly folded flat.

After seeing the tesla group issues with ceramic on the vinyl, thats something I’m going to be avoiding.

Almost 10 months in and still look great. I do need to clean once home…bend area mtb trail dust is slightly showing on seats. It’d still be there with BM and FE

Yeah, you don't want to put any coatings or conditioners on these vinyl seating surfaces... A friend of mine owns a detail shop and that's what he says.. The seats clean up just fine with a soft cloth (preferably microfiber) some warm water and a tiny bit of dish soap. Occasionally if you get dye transfer from blue jeans or or something that doesn't want to come right off, then a 50% alcohol solution might work or a cleaner like the Car Guys vinyl cleaner is much better and you foam it up and working it swirling it with a soft brush. Our white seats in our Model Y still look brand new even though we've had it just over 3 years and 40K miles. No coatings, no baby wipes, definitely no magic erasers or any other abrasive stuff that many people incorrectly recommend.

Ocean coast or bust. Nothing else comes even close. I would even say it's worth the $2,000 option with the dark ash wood.


Forget about the compliments. The interior is so much more airy and spacious. The black panoramic roof has a nice contrast with the white headliner. I don't care what people who are not making my payments think. I love love love the ocean coast.

100% I am glad I did not go with my original black on black configuration.


The R1S Piano/Tuxedo theme is a much better option.

I was on the fence about the ocean coast interior for the same reasons but I’m so glad I went with OC. It’s beautiful. Just wish they kept the headliner black.
