3 kids and a labrador retriever here. Not a mark after 4 months. I've had similar in our previous ford explorers and even if you scratch them hard they will come back with some products. I usually clean them a couple of times a year with Chemical guys leather cleaner and conditioner.

Of course leather (or fake leather) is considered "luxury" but most airlines, trains, etc use it because it is easy to clean and durable.

Based upon one user? Seems like a small sample size, but it has been a while since stats class.
Lol. Oh… you’re one of those.
Enjoy your crispy interior.

I suppose you bought the koolaid on putting a silicon paint treatment on, too? Rivian paint is rather thin, the glacier on my r1s already showing rust spots through it on the tailgate, I’m not sure I’d want to help weaken it.

Why do you wish Rivian kept the OC headliner black?
It’s personal preference. To me it makes the cabin feel more intimate. Plus my Range Rover had it and it was perfect cuz I would never see any make up stains on the passenger side visor. On my other car with the light interior you can see make up marks. I hope this interior stays clean as I have added a protectant to the interior.

8 months in. Looks good as new, minus the seat bottom crease marks that were there on day 1 (which has been reported quite frequently on these forms).

I'm quite happy with how durable the interior is. 100% would go OC again. I like the grey headliner, but I do worry it will show dirt pretty easily...

No, I have always taken care of my vehicles and use science not one offs from a message board. I assume you didn't was your car and had the red Ford Fiesta that is now pink.

Sorry to hear, definitley warranty and you should get it taken care of.

I'm in no way supporting ceramic coatings but...

It appears that you are the one who bought the koolaid, or maybe you just like fearmongering. You linked a forum post to a purchased used vehicle where you "assumed" that a previous owner used a ceramic coating. Kinda strange to link to your own post as supporting evidence when you have no evidence of any type.

Read a little further when the OP states what tesla told them. Try again. White knighting failed

Yeah I can read... no where does it say Tesla told them anything. And some kind of coating doesn't mean anything. I'm more inclined to believe it was a harsh chemical cleaner.

Again, I don't necessarily think these coatings do anything based on the YT videos I've seen, but Gyeon has over 1000 reviews on Amazon and 0 of them say seats cracked. So unless you have proof that ceramic coatings will cause cracking on the Rivian seats you're just fearmongering. Let people do whatever they want to do and spend their time and money however they want to spend it. Maybe it will protect the seats some, maybe it won't.

Has mine since December. My family of four plus our dog use the truck extensively most weekends and very little, if any, wear and tear.

The Telsa owner with the cracked seats never confirmed that he used any coating. One of the thread postings asked him what he posted, but he never replied.

I must say that I find it interesting that many posters state "Never coated it with anything, spills wipe up fine, maybe with a bit of soap and a micro towel". Then other posters state "... coated it with ceramic <blah blah blah> and it wipes up easy. So how can one conclude that the ceramic approach helps when the same results are attained without the ceramic approach?

Who knows? Maybe they both work to keep Ocean Coast interiors clean?

I just use a soft micro towel with Simple Green spray, and a dry towel to dry it up, and it comes clean for me, my wife and two small dogs.

I would add, just be sensible with what you use. Don't use and questionable harsh chemical cleaners or scrubbers, and you should be good to go.

My ocean coast interior is untreated and I’ve only cleaned it twice (once due to new jeans rubbing some color off and another time after a road trip to the beach). It still looks brand new after 8 months

I was frightened by the by the OC interior because of a past experience. Three Silverados ago I ordered the tan leather seats because I thought it looked great with the red exterior. I found this to be a mistake as the tan seat portions became blue stained from our jeans. I tried every kind of leather cleaner available, but no luck. I traded this truck with 140,000 miles. It still had the stained seat bottoms. Since then, my Silverados have had black interiors. My R1T also has the black seats.

We got the OC exclusively for the light headliner. It adds an airy feel to the cabin. I probably would have preferred black seats with a light headliner, but that wasn’t an option.

I coated the seats and door cards with Geyon Ceramic Shield and they’ve done well. I loaned my truck to my brother and his wife for a few days while I was out of town. They got sunscreen all over the seats and doors (black and white vinyl) and it wiped off with Gyeon mild cleaner when I found it 2 days later. I’ve heard of other R1 owners with uncoated interiors never getting out sunscreen stains, so I’m impressed with the product.
