Rivian is acting on a slippery slope of trying to deny customers with aftermarket parts - which won't end well for Rivian; federal law prohibits such acts (Magnuson Moss Warranty Act).
Yeah their warranty language is broad enough that it's problematic, and they're refusing to implement the steps that they outline in their own language (e.g. Rivian providing in writing that an accessory won't void the warranty). It will be very interesting to see what happens if they refuse to calibrate for another set of wheels for winter tires, which is a safety improvement for the customer, beyond the seemingly obvious issues associated with MMWA.

I have AT3 Wildpeaks on my other vehicle, and found them better in every condition than my previous BFG AT's.
Been using them for a few years now on Jeep GCs, Rubicons, and my Defender (mild off road and plenty of PacNW rain & snow). Great tire.

The work orders had it being 60 bucks today, it was handled via mobile service, and it was done in 10 minutes or so
No camera recalibration needed? Some folks have claimed they had to do that too, by service, to the tune of $400.

Interesting, nope, not for me. There seems to be a lot of variance around it, the guy who called from the Denver one to confirm my appointment - thought they could do it by OTA initially. The tech who showed up said sometimes it takes 5 minutes and other times 3 hours. He was in and out in 10 minutes and they did it via mobile service. Super great experience tbh from my side. But he had a laptop and some other items I didn't notice I'm detail to do it.

That's what I did...I went with 275/60/20 Wildpeak AT3W's on my R1S with aftermarket wheels. I came from 22s as well, so no correction/recalibration needed.

Looks good. No concerns over a slightly smaller sidewall for off roading? I know it’s only half an inch and the 65r20’s aren’t very big as far as sidewalls go anyway,..

Yeah, that was something I though about. I personally do not have any major concerns, I got a 5th for a spare just in case. The portion closer to the rim is a 4ply but you are right the outer portion is 2 ply. This will be the first time I'm offroading so I think in the future I may get a thicker one, from what I know. This one seems like a good balance between performance in weather/efficency/tread life/ and off reading. Not perfect in any of those areas tho.

It's only a 0.55" difference, as far as the ground is concerned. Not enough to matter. Offset of the wheel's face/spokes from the sidewalls is more of a concern when off-roading. But, because of Rivian's specs and suspension, there isn't much we can do about that. This is why Thuren designed their wheel to be 0.5" narrower, to place the spokes and tire valve more in-board. Better for off-roading, at slight sacrifice of on-road handling.

Thanks, and no...no concerns. As you noted, it's a marginally smaller diameter...however, it is somewhat of a requirement for someone with aftermarket wheels with a lower offset, so that there won't be any rubbing. FYI: My wheels are a +25 offset. Stock is +48.

I really hope something like this can eventually be done without a service visit from Rivian to update the software. Where I live (Los Angeles) it's a 4-6 month wait for a service appointment, even if mobile service.

How are those tires doing with efficiency?
It's too soon for me to know...as I've only had the new wheels/tires on for a week and a half. But honestly, tracking efficiency is not my area of expertise...as I don't have the awareness or patience to track that on a trip by trip basis.

What I can say is that with my newly acquired EV driving style (easy on the throttle, smooth and controlled stops, as well as striving to stay under 75mph), I expect to get the same mileage as when I was on 22s. Yes, there is more "poke" with these tires because of the offset, but the diameter (275/60/20) is relatively the same as my 22s. Plus these tires are the same weight as the stock 20s. FYI, my wheel/tire combo weight is 88lbs.

So far, my estimated arrival mileages have continued to be right on the money, so if there's a loss, it's highly likely that I won't notice...unless it's severe. Sorry I couldn't be more informative.

Good luck!

Your coming from 22" has me thinking, and I feel kinda dumb now, the recalibration from 20" to 275/60/20 probably makes more sense going to 22" instead of 21". The guessometer will probably be a lot closer with a little error built in.
