After about 4 miles on 2023.38.0, my R1T infotainment screens rebooted while driving. This is the first time this happened in 6.5K miles and 9 months of ownership.

I was going slow at the time but was still a bit scary. I had the new info gauges up on the center screen and had music playing. Music stopped, and everything went blank, then the MPH came back up, then the center screen rebooted. Took about a minute to get everything loaded again. The car drove normally, however. Anyone else have this happened since installing 2023.38.0?

I had that same thing happen last week while on 2023.34, about 5 minutes into a drive. With both screens completely black, I was worried the truck would stop in the middle of traffic.

Not yet, and I hope never. That would be quite unnerving.

I had an infotainment reboot a month or two after I took delivery in May 2022; have not had one since. It is nerve wracking...but no impact on driving.

I had that happen once on 2023.26.0, all has been fine on 2023.38.0 so far! I don't think it's related to this update, it can happen on any version.

I made a video about this latest update if you're interested in it.

I haven't seen that on mine yet.

The good news is that the infotainment and screens appear to be completely separate from the vehicle controls, and you can continue to drive normally even if the screens are off/resetting.

Still unsettling though.

It does seem a little unstable. I had just the navigation "reset" on me during my first drive. I lost the road map on my left screen and center screen. And it put me in the media tab. I had to select my route again and then it all came back.

It seems fine to me, I usually sit and go through all of the screens after the OTA is applied to cache all of the screens.

Seems like the screens do cache and first time through they take a second or two to load, running through all of them seems to help.

This happens on rare occasions when the internal messaging stack between the ECUs gets stuck. It’s not new to .38.

The MCU in my 2019 Model 3 went kaput which took out my screen and HVAC, but the car itself still drove fine. I drove with Waze as my speedometer for a few days until I could get it into service. I would assume the same would be true with Rivian

Seems like the perfect time to get pulled over.
"Actually officer I have no idea how fast I was going. Perhaps you can try calling Tesla's PR department"

Mine has blacked out enough times to notice and it’s brief like 3 seconds going between one tab to the next. I haven’t had it reboot in me though.

Screens are caching, see my earlier post #8.
