Pre-ordered R1S in January 2021; confirmed configuration few weeks ago in October. If delivery comes in 2024, I get $5,000 Colorado tax credit plus federal. If it comes in 2023, only get $2,800 state tax credit. Just saw my exact configuration in the store. If I pull the trigger on that one, what's the chance it is delivered in 2023? Can you direct that delivery comes in early 2024?

I am in the same boat as you, except I dont qualify for the 7500 federal credit..

They are pushing to get deliveries out in this year. I pushed my delivery out to January, and they sent the VIN back to the R1 store and said they would reopen it for me in January.

It could be close, some people say it is a few days, others could be 6 weeks. I would think if it is not at the service centers around you and ships from factory you could probably get it pushed to January but they probably want to get all the deliveries they can in 2023.

Mine got delivered within 2 weeks after making selection in store.

There is a fine print in purchase agreement that you must pickup the vehicle within a week of it being ready.

From VIN to driveway takes about a month usually, but it could be sooner. Chances are you will definitely get it this year because Rivian really tries to push out the vehicles before the end of the quarter to meet their numbers.

From what I understand, model years for Rivian are based on year of manufacture, not year of shipment.

You're right but there's a twist. R1S is more than 8,500 pounds GVWR, so it's considered a truck. Innovative truck credit (for vehicles over 8,500 pounds) is $2,800 in 2023, but $5,000 in 2024. Regular old innovative motor vehicle credit was $2,000 prior to July 1, 2023, and $5,000 after July 1, 2023. So that extra 32 pounds GVWR is a heavy burden.

CO credit went from $3500 in 2022, down to $2800 in 2023. 2022 table is below. Sounds lie it's going up in 2024 though, which I didn't know, but I've got my truck so I haven't been following very closely.

Mine was in the lot when I selected it. I took delivery within 2 days and this was back in Jan.

It all depends on where it is and where it needs to go. If you can wait, just wait. I was really eager to get mine so I jumped on a close match with a few upgrades. I was told 6 weeks, but it arrived and delivered within 4 weeks. I didn’t get any indication on where the shipping originated, but guessing Normal, since it took 4 weeks to SoCal.
