Obviously it's very subjective, but I think many of us will agree with these sentiments:

Tesla’s Cybertruck looks insane, but I’m still holding out for the Rivian R2

Of course, there's no way the R2 will be $40k. Maybe $50k, after incentives. Still, that's a better price point. The main reason behind my (minor) complaints about the R1 is that I expect near perfection for the high price. I'd be more forgiving at $50k. I'd also happily give up some bells and whistles. Added complexity means more stuff that can fail.

I think non-current Tesla customers feel similarly. The most vocal people in support of CT are Teslastans

I find it interesting that all the article I’ve read about the Cybertruck talk about the starting price of $60K and a 0-60 of less than 3 seconds. First of all who knows when if ever you will see that version. Even if you do it will have a range of 250 miles and a 0-60 of 6.5 seconds. Who wants an electric vehicle that would get blown away by a minivan.

I'm very curious why you think there's no way R2 will be $40k? Based on scale, improved process, and in house components I think it's very feasible and it's a huge part of their strategy to build towards a million+ vehicles per year.

The question to me will be what features and/or tech from R1 will make it over into R2 at that price point.

Couldn’t be further from the truth. I was a hard core Rivian evangelist from the day they announced a quad motor 400+ range truck. Went to all the events, met RJ, etc… With each passing year and reduced features and range and non-existent Driver+, they completely lost me and I’d even say pushed me (and many others I know) to Tesla. The CT absolutely delivers on the original R1T promise and then some.

Yeah, you’re the rando who suddenly started posting here after the Cybertruck reveal ?

And let’s just conveniently ignore the $79K cybertruck that was promised in 2019 that would go 500+ miles!

You have zero credibility to me

What's the price of the 450+mi Cybertruck and can you buy one now?

lol. I’m posting here and Tesla forums, and I’m seeing you Credibility Karens all butt-hurt about the CT. How does it feel to drop $80K and then see a superior product crush your soul?

But... The R2 will be even smaller than my R1, so I am not sure they are going after the same demographic.

I suspect the common 'demographic' is people who want good EV's for $40k. :)
I think Volvo has delivered on that recently, right? Seems very possible for Rivian.

Which "product" are you referring to? Tesla's truck is not even superior to the promises made in 2019 :CWL:

Ah.... OK... I never thought I could get a decent electric truck for under about $80, so I missed that lol.
