I don't know the Volvo well, so this may not be a comparable car, but VW ID-4s qualify for the full tax credit, in case you weren't aware. But, even a ~$55K R2 would be same price as the lowest trim CT because of CT’s tax credit eligibility.
We obviously dont know what the specs of an R2 truck would be, but I can’t imagine it being close to the CT RWD and R1T dual standard pack.
A $61K RWD CT minus federal and any state tax credits is a screaming good value for what it offers. If the design does not turn you off.
This is where Tesla’s advantage of having their own battery factories prove to be an advantage. It’s going to be difficult for any car brand come anywhere close to Tesla’s cost, and consequently price.
I just went to a Volvo dealer to take a look at the EX30, and it was nice. But, when comparing its price to a Model 3 or Y, the specs just don't compare remotely. There’s an immediate known cost to go to another brand if I wanted to hate getting another Tesla.
I agree that R2s seem unlikely to land in the same market as CTs.
