People keep underestimating the pool of Tesla loyalists. That alone will help them sell more than R1T ever will.

Then you have those who aren’t loyalists that are just price sensitive. Bigger bed, more battery use features (11 kw V2X!!), equally as good off-road chops for the majority of off-road trips for the general population, and lower price than the R1T (also with bigger tax credit than Rivians).

I don't see how people think the CT is going to not do better than the R1T.
Doubt it. CT will be a niche product like the roadster.

People who project poor snow clearing for the Big Ass Wiper are not thinking rationally.

...

Conversely, the Big Ass Wiper has a smooth planar surface that slopes down to the ground in front of the vehicle. With the wiper parking in the "up" position, the first swipe will propel the snow down towards the ground. Remember, snow and ice is heavy and glaciers slide downhill due to gravity. Having a smooth planar ramp that can clear the entire front of the truck in one swipe is a nice advantage.
Having taken a closer look, I can see what you're saying. I'm not really clear that the wiper will be pushing across the hood. Has that been confirmed anywhere?

But you're right that it doesn't really have anything to pack snow against. It seems more likely snow will flip up into the wind-stream and fly over the truck.

Speaking of snow. The CT headlight design is going to be horrible for snow accumulation. The bumper provides a nice shelf for the snow to quickly pile up. I hope they thought of that and made the lenses heated…prob not given the extreme measures they went thru to shave cost.

Yes, we have at least one die-hard Tesla Fanboy in this discussion, and a bit of a fanatical one at that. There's nothing wrong with being a Tesla Fanboy - it's the fanatical part I could do without. I have owned two Teslas - I still own one. I have loved the experience of driving them. Unfortunately, fanatics cannot acknowledge either the successes of other EV automakers like Rivian (because they oddly feel somehow that diminishes Tesla's accomplishments) and/or acknowledge the missteps of Tesla or its CEO. Tesla and Elon have done great things, and I expect they will continue to do great things, but the CT, so far, has been a lot of smoke and mirrors and bait and switches. I'll stick with the Rivian now with no regrets. Besides, I have a good 4-5 years before I could even consider buying a CT anyway if I wanted to. If we take Tesla at their word, there's million-person plus wait list for the CT. Also, if we take Elon at his word, he estimates that Tesla will, at some point in 2024 get to a pace of producing 250k CTs a year. That means 4-5 years to clear the waitlist. I do suspect that 1/2 of the people on the waitlist will drop off since he doubled the price, but even so, you're talking 2-3 years before he gets through the pre-reservation holders and onto selling to the general public.

Tesla owner here and am totally turned off by the CT. It looks to me like what a 70"s sci fi movie would depict as a truck in the future.
Or a 70s video game.

I own an R1T, love my truck but I'll be swapping over, I will always have a place In my heart for my R1T but charging and this video have changed my mind.

( you can believe the NACS B.S. but why would anyone open up all the network chargers to "help" other businesses steal what he's worked hard at building?
Answer is, He Won't.
He will open enough to get the cash they are dangling in front of him and slam the door shut. Good luck!
And watch this video.... he builds a superior product

Before this video, I dismissed this truck as a PR release, the truck is legit.
We have owned a Model X since 2019 ( performance)and got a 2022 (Plaid) lwhen our lease was up. We have been impressed with the quality of the engineering and reliability.
I have 42k miles on the R1T and have had some issues but overall had been great for a 1st year vehicle but I won't take a chance on being able to charge it away from home.
I've been on road trips from LA to Seattle and LA to Florida, I see charging networks expanding but Tesla makes them look silly.

I will be driving and enjoying this truck for as long as I need to get myself into a Cyber Truck ( it even has a stupid childish name, but it doesn't change the fact it's a better vehicle, that's reality)

Anyone that makes their buying decisions because of a pre-release marketing ... i mean sorry ... "independent review" video is an idiot. If you are on the fence, wait for REAL people to get them, not people that were granted access early with unknown terms and requirements for such access.

Those people saying these first videos "sold" them on the Cybertruck are just full of it. They were already all in. The videos only confirmed what they wanted to hear, whether they are honest or not.

I mean this is how ALL new car releases are done. Are you saying everyone who had an early Rivian reservation is an idiot?

If they decided based on a "early review" video ... ie hand selected reviewers .. then yes

That's assuming only half the people on the reservation list cancel, but by the reactions to the underwhelming spec changes made since the original introduction in 2019 and the huge price hikes.. .we may be looking at 75% cancellation rates or higher when people get the actual email saying "it's time for you to finalize your configuration and pay". If the cancellation rate is that high, they will be through the waiting list in a year or so (after mass production begins in earnest) and then the trouble will begin.
