Maybe it's just me...but when i started to use D+ I felt it moved the vehicle a bit too far to the right - it felt uncomfortable when there was a large rig / semi to the right. But then it turns out that after decades of driving _I_ have drifted a bit to the left and D+ was indeed in the center of the lane.

This thread explains why I want a fast way on the steering wheel to enable and disable lane keeping assist.

Unless I’m missing something, disabling lane keeping assist requires three taps, a scroll and another tap. It’s dangerous and not helpful when you encounter construction or funny lines in the road unexpectedly.

The controls on the right side of the steering wheel. The wheel you spin to adjust your adaptive cruise control distance….push that wheel in to toggle lane keeping assist….please. Currently I don’t know that pushing that wheel does anything.

Don’t you just have to push up on the gear selected stalk? Or is that just for disabling Driver+?

Practically useless in Northern Virginia / DC metropolitan region. Construction *all the time*. Traffic *all the time*. Accidents *all the time*. It would be a dream to use it somewhere where there's little traffic, which sounds like its intended use case.

Now if I could get it to just hold my position in traffic so I could take a nap, that would be another thing. ?

Happened a few times for me l, and if I remembered correctly it was also around construction area.
It also happened once with my tesla model 3 auto pilot around Texas A&m highway 6 area

That disables adaptive cruise control but not lane keeping assist. Unless I'm mistaken here, lane keeping assist inside the Driver+ feature is always active once turned on. You can only disable it by diving into the menu.

I hope I'm wrong here.

Must be nice to have options. My Driver+ hasn’t worked since an OTA update borked my front sensors and camera 9 months ago. Between long wait times to get a Service appt scheduled (and then cancelled on me), I am now assured it will be a whole year without this feature.

Yeah, Driver+ is definitely not perfect, and certainly requires full attention - but it's nice to be able to relax a little and spend less mental energy on lane centering and speed management. For my part I actually find it *less* stressful than FSD in my Tesla in a lot of circumstances, because it's less prone to completely irrational darting to the side of the road at the slightest hint of an onramp or bus lane - Driver+ is "dumb" in a predictable way that just does its best to follow the lines, which is much preferable in my case.

But, you have to anticipate when it's going to be "too dumb," a bit, in cases like this. (Not that I think Autopilot would have fared better.)

I have had my Rivian R1T since March 22. A few days later I tried out Driver+ for the first time on I-1O about 30 miles west of Houston. There was a bit of construction in the area but everything was going fine until the vehicle took a very sharp turn towards the concrete barrier. I had to quickly grab the wheel otherwise I might not have been around to start this thread. I noticed a few days later that the lane markers were screwed up and did in fact point towards the barrier. Driver+ and autopilot in general is more of a gimmick to me so the fact that I am paranoid to use it hasn’t been a big deal. Has anybody else experienced the same thing?
I know the exact stretch of highway. Don't be paranoid, but pay attention. If you see old/erased lane markings, so does the truck. Take over for that short period and then go back to relaxing. Anywhere that Highway Assist works and has good lane markings has been perfect. The more ambiguous the lines, the more trouble it will have. Especially if you're in a lane that maybe used to be a shoulder that has since been turned into a new lane, that will trigger a disengage because of the mismatched map data.

That’s not how mine works. One swipe up and driver+ plus and lane assist deactivates. ACC is still active.

You’re saying one up on the right stalk disables driver+ and two up on it disables ACC?

omg I need to revisit this. I’m so psyched if I’m just doing it wrong.

Okay, I feel pretty dumb.

I just discovered Highway Assist.

I've been staring at the Highway Assist icon that appears wondering what it meant. Then, trying to figure out what you were saying above, I finally tried pushing the stalk down twice like a "double click."

And blammo: Highway Assist mode that I didn't know was there.

I kept hearing people talk about it, but thought they just used different words for Driver+.

So, I can keep Driver+ lane keeping assist off, then enable Highway Assist when I want using the stalk, and can disable it easily without diving into the menus!

Eureka.

I should problem RTFM for the rest of the car.

Thank you!

push the stalk up and then back down, it will disengage driver+ and re-engage cruise control. or just tap the break or wiggle the driving wheel.

Yeah, I’m a full on idiot. I didn’t know how to engage driver+. I thought it was simply the “lane keeping assist” buried in the menu system.

I got the car without any training and didn’t rtfm.

I finally discovered the double tap down on the stalk on mapped highways only, to enable the “highway assist/driver+” feature.

I think mixing terms "highway assist” and “driver+” threw me a bit.

And I’m also an idiot! :)

I went from a Model Y with full self driving to an R1T and even though Driver+ is not as capable as Tesla's full self driving, or even enhanced Autopilot for that matter, I still think it operates much, much more smoothly than Tesla's offering. Braking and acceleration on Driver+ are much more close to my own driving than Autopilot was. It seemed Autopilot only knew how to floor it or slam on the brakes, especially when a car changed lanes in front of you.

I actually also really like the automatic reengagement of Driver+ after changing lanes. Autopilot took ages for lane changes to complete.
