What do expect from luxury brand owners :CWL:
I think it’s unreasonable to expect more than:
- safety
- feature parity with other modern autos

… and with this update, I think we’re almost there! I ordered EV Sportline’s CarPlay screen, so I no longer care about better nav., voice recognition, music, etc.

The quality of the front and rear cameras is still rather poor for capturing license plates, so I might buy an aftermarket dash cam, too. But that should do it.

I think we are there. Anything past what we have is bonus and I am good with them charging for any of it.

I dislike this feature a lot, and have it disabled on the Tesla's. I would like to be the one to use the brakes appropriately, not leave that job to the computer. Especially in the situation you are talking about, with the possibility of prolonged brake usage, I don't want it just dragging on the brakes all the way down the hill.

That said, the more we can each make our own choices based on our own comfort levels, the better! Great update.
?
I’m with you here, I don’t want any foundation brakes being used unless I’m pushing on the pedal. Too many years driving trucks and always needing to be aware off how much brakes are being used.

I'm AM sort of expecting something new I didn't think of to make me say "that's cool, that would solve X" in my head from Rivian.

Some limited AI integration for things like your favorites list. If you go the same place on the same day every week, maybe that favorite comes up first. Something useful that saves time and effort, but not relying on only what users ask for and other makers have come up with. Just a bit of innovation please.

Here is my "want list":

1. The ability to message (read and send)
2. The ability to move the SPOTIFY play menu from the passenger side to the driver's side.....I don't always have my wife in the car controlling that.....LOL
3. More USB drives capable of recording gear cam. I bought a brand new 128 GB PNY USB drive and it said "It isn't fast enough".
4. The ability to use the eSIM with any carrier and not just AT&T.

I know 3 & 4 are a big wish....but 1 & 2 is doable.

Agree with #1. Not sure I understand #2, what do you do with the music play screen? Skip songs? Can't you just use the left steering wheel button? For #3 I thought you needed at least 256GB storage for recording gear guard videos. Maybe it's even 512GB. And for #4 do other cars allow you to choose your carrier? I don't think they do so I doubt Rivian will.

Exactly.. I already dented my Lic plate with the trailer coupler. I'm super careful backing up on to the coupler now, my wife is the guide and she asks me why it takes so long with the Rivian vs her Honda Pilot.
As an old manual transmission driver, I know reverse gear on manual transmissions are generally near the same low gear ratio as 1st gear which gives you very fine vehicle control in reverse, and even automatic trannys have lots of slip at low throttle levels so again, fine control in reverse. But, none of that gearing down effect in reverse for EV's (because there are no higher or lower gears) so they need to remap the reverse throttle response so it takes a lot more pedal movement to increase power to the motors vs that same pedal travel in Drive. Hopefully Rivian gets this right to make backing up that last inch a bit less stressful.
Maybe use two feet and drag the brake. I haven't hooked up my trailer but I forsee issues with this as well. The truck coasts in reverse as well as the throttle being inconsistent.

To skip a song yes, but if I want to "favorite" the song (heart Icon) or skip the commercials of my PODCASTS, I have to pick the forward 15-second icon.

For #3 I thought you needed at least 256GB storage for recording gear guard videos. Maybe it's even 512GB.
That might be the issue, but I have seen others use a 128GB. Maybe I will just upgrade mine.

Yeah, I reached out to T-Mobile and they said that they aren't compatible with Rivian. I know some of the older cars (my 2016 Camry) had the ability to switch out the sim.....it wasn't a eSim. I know the new iPhones (14 and newer) use a eSim that you can unlock (after you have paid it off in full) to use on other networks. I wonder if it would be that hard to allow it in this case?.

Again, these were just my wish list. #1 and #2 I think are doable with a software update an #3 is possible with maybe the correct storage size and $4........not so much!

The brakes are too strong for "come back half an inch more" type stuff and unfortunately, regen kicks in as well.. none of which is helpful for precision reverse gear ops. I guess even just the fact that Rivian is addressing this issue means there have been complaints.

Man, I'm so jealous of all your vehicles that have stable enjoyable HVAC logic. That's still my #1. Even above vampire drain.

It is weird that some work and some don't apparently. My HVAC is super good. Just set it and forget it and it works very well. And vampire drain for me is not a big deal. What little mine has is negligible the way I use the truck.

My HVAC is super good also. In the fall / winter I just leave it at 73 and never touch it; in the summer I leave it at 69 and never touch it. Always perfect.

I’m not sure mine is stable. It’s been so cold outside that anything it blows has been warm. I guess that’s fine for now!
