Rivian Non-Branded Crossbars

I recently noticed on EBay a number of over seas sellers with postings for crossbars, $200 for a pair. Below is a link to an example

The photos depict crossbars that look identical to the Rivian branded ones and in many cases are just pictures of the Rivian branded ones. Anyone purchased a set of these from one of these sellers? If they are identical without the Rivian branding, it’s certainly a much better price!

It's 30 day returns, in terms of overall risk, not too bad. I could send up a gofundme and people could donate $10 each and once I get $200 I could go ahead and be the Guinea PIg.

I’ve done a lot of work in Asian manufactured hard goods. Sometimes when suppliers fail to meet product specifications the designers (eg RIVIAN or Yakima as I’ve heard rumors) will refuse completed product that is out of spec. At that point the Asian assembly factory has two choices dump it (very costly) or push it back to their sub contracted suppliers. They can’t sell it themselves or their contract will go away and they get sued for breach. So… they push it back to their supplier who has no contract with designer. Beware you may be getting out of spec parts that don’t fit the roof pockets designed to accept the rack.

Curious to see what you get. If they are factory seconds then they should have the same lock cores/keys if knock-offs then who knows.

How's your order looking? Has it shipped?

I ordered one of the Amazon sets and the seller canceled my order the next day claiming "Sorry, there are currently installation issues with this item and the factory is still adjusting. We have to terminate the transaction"

The same seller still has crossbars listed as in stock, so I'm not sure what to think. Makes me worry it was just a scam to get contact info of Rivian owners.

Scams on Amazon are not impossible nor unheard of. Also, what if these bars don’t hold as much weight as the real deal? Being able to mount them is only half the battle. Lucky if they are only factory rejects for cosmetic reasons.

wow some of those pics are so 'sus' and banged up looking they look like they were salvaged or just fell off a previous install..
