I’ve been having an on going L2 charging issue with my Rivian or Rivian charger. After charging for 25-30 minutes the charger will suddenly stop. But then start back up again. Sometimes it will repeat multiple times while charging other times it will do it once.

I’ve been reporting this issue to Rivian for over 3 months now. I finally have their attention.

My other issue is the climate control don’t seem to be very accurate. It’s either extremely cold or hot nothing in the middle.

I’ve been browsing the forms looking to see if anyone is experiencing these issues. I came across service mode.

When I accessed service mode on my vehicle I noticed the OBC and XMM are both red

I don’t want to jump to conclusions but does red signify there is an issue with that part of the system?

Those red lights in service mode could totally be a heads-up that something's up with your ride. It might be related to the charging and climate control hiccups you're experiencing. Try to pay attention to when these problems happen, if there's anything specific triggering them, and if your car shows any error messages.
For your charging problem, there could be a few reasons why. It's important to check both your Rivian charger and your car's charging system for any issues. This could be anything from loose connections to problems with the charger or the car's charging port. I suggest checking all the parts involved in charging, like cables and connectors, and maybe try using different charging stations to see if that helps.
And about the climate control— it might be because of sensors not working right or issues with the HVAC system.

So Rivian finally agreed to send me a replacement charger. I was both surprised and impressed that they sent Qmerit out to install the new charger. The installer from Qmerit told me this is his 6th Rivian charger he had to replace. The new charger is different from my first one. First noticeable difference was the cord and plug. Both are a lot thinner and more stream line.

I performed another hard reset on the vehicle before plugging in the new charger. As of right now the OBC error is gone. I will keep monitoring it.

However the XMM is still present. I have a mobile appointment next week. I’m going to ask the mechanic if he can check the code to see if it’s related to my HVAC system. Maybe just a sensor.

However, I do feel they should fix whatever that error is regardless if I’m aware of the problem.

Hey @Jason C did they mention anything on the XMM, seems like it has something to do with the Driver+ . I havent had any issues with my Rivian with charging but i was curious to see the service mode and saw they were both Red too. Should i still contact Rivian to get that fixed or leave it as is since im not experiencing anything wrong that i am aware off.

Afternoon - I have an R1S w/DM making significant engine whines & clicks. What menu sequence is needed to get that service display up? I'm in San Diego, the service shop is sending a tech out to listen to the engine noise. It might be useful to be able to show this display to the tech.

Engine? It would be helpful if you record a video with audio so we can hear what you’re hearing. Our Rivians have motors powering many things on the vehicle but no engine so I think what you’re hearing is related to a specific system. A recording should help us figure out what that is.

The tech was telling me the OBC error is probably causing the XMM error. After they switched my L2 charger out both my OBC and XMM errors have disappeared.

I just did an update and the red came off for me too. So I should be good now.

Thanks! Even though I have never driven a DM, that doesn’t sound normal to me. To me that sounds like something other than drive motor noise. Maybe differential? I was thinking maybe something in a front wheel well was rubbing, but that would’ve changed when turning. I have 3 follow-up questions:
1. How many miles do you have on it?
2. What kind of tires do you have?
3. If you try High regen does the noise change at all?

2680 miles.
21 inch standard road tires as delivered from Rivian, side wall says Scorpion Verde??
I really noticed the increased noise while I had regen in high.
However the first thing I changed to set regen to standard and there was no change in the noise.
A month ago the noise faded out at about 25 mph. Now it does not fade out until about 32 mph with regen in standard.
Last night I found a youtube with the DM hardware pulled apart. The guy walked through how the pieces fit together. It appears the gears are all inside the DM housing. But I could be wrong!
