27 months after pre-order, 6 months after locked configuration, went with my wife to take delivery of our R1S at the Denver Service Center. Person who handled the paperwork and the car introduction acted like he had to get to an urgent appointment. Total rush job. Impatient, rude, uninformative, couldn't bear to go over anything slowly, cursory explanation of everything, acted like I was a total pain when I started to inspect the exterior ("you've got 7 days to reject it."). He pushed us out of there in like 20 minutes and acted peeved that it took that long. And, he had the gall to insist that Rivians don't have a vampire drain issue. Hey Denver, you've got a problem.

That sucks to hear, I couldnt have been more happy with our experience. For us every step about our purchase was such a relief not having to deal with sleazy car salesman. I liked how on day of pickup we only had to make a couple of signatures and done off to the car.

We picked out car up on Easter Sunday in Brooklyn NY and it was great. I knew alot about the car already but my wife needed a complete walkthrough everything. The guy helping us took his time and went over everything wife my wife. I’ve never had such service when buying a car. I guess Rivian needs to get all their delivery centers on the same page.

Ouch.. yeah, that person should not be representing Rivian or handling customer service. So sorry you had that experience. You should certainly share your feedback with your guide so that they know they have an issue out of that location. I’ve been to the Rivian service center in Denver on a road trip for an emergency vehicle issue, and they were SO accommodating with taking me in for an impromptu appointment and trying to coordinate a loaner if the fix didnt work.

Unfortunately, most of the guides and on site employees may not care as much or have near the excitement for a new owner for various reasons. And the hopefully that negative energy should not be a reflection of the product or the company as whole

Opposite experience in Denver. In fact, I’d say Denver definitely has their act together compared to some other SC’s., if not the top SC in the country, as I’ve followed this forum for 4 years. I’ll admit, purchasing a Rivian is a different horse compared to traditional dealership model. It’s a bit , take-it-or-leave-it., but don’t take it if you don’t like it.

I’ll be at the Denver SC tomorrow morning for the first time for a service issue in 14 months bc my camp speaker won’t release when I play @COdogman’s favorite Vanilla Ice song, “Ice Ice Baby”.

Unfortunately every company has people working for them. And no matter how great the company is one thing that can fail in an experience is a person. I would have went inside and politely asked for another person to show us around once he left.

@opnwide Portland OR and Tualatin OR are super rock solid. I would say Denver would have to be #3 service center. Don’t hate me for being honest. ?

I had a great delivery experience (in Boston) and it was very, very different than what you’re describing. That said, there are jerks in every company, or maybe he was just really having a bad day. Who knows. That said, I’m pretty sure they’ll give you an opportunity to leave feedback on your delivery experience. When they do, leave direct, u emotional feed back about the situation, his behavior, and how much this missed your expectations.

I am lucky in that I have only needed to visit the Denver SC twice. Once for delivery and again for my 7500 mile maintenance appointment, but both times every Rivian employee I spoke with was excellent and professional. I’m really sorry you had to deal with someone who wasn’t.

Overall, based on feedback from other owners here I would say Denver is one of the better Rivian service facilities in the country. Even during the worst of the service logjam they were somehow getting people in and out reasonably quickly.

Definitely give Rivian your feedback when you get a follow up survey.

Another vote of confidence in Denver SC. I've also thankfully only had to visit a couple of times for very minor issues but every experience has been great. My first mobile service last week for my new PTC was also great. The night and day difference between dealing with Rivian (even in its infancy) and the existential dread and anxiety I feel every time I walk into a car dealership make me hopeful that I'll never have to visit one ever again. Hopefully they can sort out the issues with whomever you had to deal with.

I assume the OP knows a lot about the vehicle since he ordered so long ago and is on the forums. So delivery would be pretty efficient in those circumstances.

It sounds the experience suxed, no question about that.

But some training in imagination might elevate the experience/memories.
(Or in other words sounds like way overreacting in the title)

I don't have to imagine to come up with a worse car buying experience. Literally every car I've bought was a worse experience than that.

I'd take being rushed out the door in 20 minutes over sitting in a chair talking to the finance guy for an hour and a half.

Did I ever tell you the story about when I took my Tesla Model Y in for an alignment? The place was mobbed and it took several hours of waiting and when I got the car back they just threw the frunk pan back in. Attached it with one bolt and the tech left all his tools in the frunk!
