Anyone using or will be using the Tesla charging membership ($12.99/mo)?
Think it's worth it?

Along the same vein, anyone use the EA Pass+? Worth it?

I use the Tesla membership. I have more SC’s around me plus without the membership, it’s like .12 more per kWh and EA is well EA.

I used the EA when road tripping. It was $7 per month, but their per kWh was cheaper at .36 same as RAN and Tesla in my area, but recently they raised their prices by .08 so it’s not worth it for me if RAN is available. I have a Tesla as well, wondering if I will still need a 12.99 membership if I want to charge my Rivian there with Tesla app??

No - it’s plug and charge for a Rivian at a Tesla SC. No need to initiate from the app if you do not have a membership. Just need to make sure your billing info inc. credit card is in the Tesla system via the app.

Clean and simple. Has been verified by a number of people (inc. me) with A2Z adapter.

I would like to use the membership for some road trips this summer to New England where I'll be charging either at RAN (My first choice) or Tesla superchargers. I sure wish that we could somehow link the membership to the plug-in charge though. It's amazing what a big difference in the experience it makes. I never knew until I stopped at a RAN charger.

100-110 kWh per month is the break even point. Start the membership when road tripping and stop it when you’re staying local.

With A2Z or Rivian adapter, whichever arrives first, our regular Montana road trip is now doable in one day with just 2 stops using SC network, and puts us over the break-even. I'm so ready for this!

I’m just wondered what the rate for non teslas will be with Rivian plug and charge. I was able to find a rate in the Rivian app and comapred it to Tesla and there is a markup of $0.11 for charging my Rivian compared to my Tesla. Surprisingly, none of the superchargers in my area show up as compatible for adapter.

Oh yeah - it’ll certainly be cheaper. I believe the standard “discount” was $0.12/kWh for members.

V3 and above SCs are compatible, but V2 are not.

This is exactly what I did with EvGo and worked really well!

From looks of it it varies by supercharger. I’ve used two and the difference was $0.08/kWhr between Tesla and non-Tesla. The break even would have been 162.375kWhr. It’d have to be a really long road trip with several TSC tops to make it worth while vs. just plug and charge. If you double the break even to 325kWhr you’re only saving $12.99 in a month. That’s anbout 4-5 sessions charging a Large Pack from 20% back to 80%. And then it resets again after a month. With a recent 600 mile road trip I only came across 2 compatible TSC. It definitely wouldn’t have been worth it in addition to the hassle of their app.

At $7/mo for EA Pass+ I saved quite a bit more beyond the break even and it’s almost a necessity to use the App with EA (it’s 50/50 whether their Pay membership card works on their Pass reader - not the credit card reader). Plus they don’t support plug and charge with Rivian.

TSC plug and charge was as good as RAN (when it worked). At one TSC site I had to try 3 different SC before I found one that worked… 2 out 8 down (of the ones ones I tried) wasn’t a good first experience given their hype.

The answer is yes. Your vehicle is individually identified at the Supercharger and if it’s not a Tesla, you pay the higher rate unless you are paying for the membership

AFAIK, you can only get the Tesla membership rate if you initiate the session from the Tesla app. You’ll get the standard rate if you plug-and-play through the Rivian system. Someone disabuse me if this observation if it is incorrect please.
