I rotate my tires every 6K miles and this time America's Tire Co. (Discount Tire) noted that the outer tread was wearing down more than my inner tread on my rear wheels. Just wondering if everyone is scheduling it with the Service Center or if you have had your alignment done elsewhere. What's the cost? Currently at 46K miles on my R1T.

I talked to the manager of my local Discount Tire and he said they are all in on Rivian’s. Each store has compatible pucks for the lifts. I too have had them rotate my tires and repair one with a nail in it. They did a great job. I would assume that they would do a good job balancing/aligning tires. If you do decide to go with them, I’d like to hear what your experience was.

Discount Tire do not do alignment. If there is a firestone in your state, you might want to ask them about it.

Discount Tire only does tires and wheels, at least what I can see at my local shop and online. They do not do alignments.

Unlike a traditional truck, the suspension geometry varies based on ride height. I have read that the alignment is set at the factory using the All-Purpose mode at Standard height. If you drive at other heights frequently, it could cause accelerated uneven tire wear.

Other threads have stated that a camera re-calibration is required with wheel alignment... not sure why, but I suppose it could have something to do with how Driver+ tracks lane lines. While a shop may say they can align it, they likely can't recalibrate the cameras unless they are Rivian Certified, like some body shops, which may be an option, if you don't/can't take it to a Service Center.

Sounds like the only safe option is to take it to Rivian. I just called Discount Tire. They do alignments, just not for Rivians. He said that they need special tools for the suspension to do alignments for Rivians. He suggested a “full service” tire shop, but I would not take the chance. Unfortunately, Rivian service appointments are hard to come by. I’ve heard, though, if you are considered an emergency or something having to do with safety, they will fit you in earlier. I’d make the argument that your tires are worn and you are worried about a blow out.

I tried to get an alignment at Discount Tire, and they wouldn't touch the Rivian.

Ended up just taking it to Rivian SC, and they charged $260 for it.

is it state depending? I was at discount tire in dallas yesterday and a lady asked for alignment. They sent her down the street to another shop.

DT doesn't do alignments in AZ.

Discount Tire has only recently started to offer alignments at a few locations.

Running in eco mode and/or low/high ride modes changes the alignment and wear. What modes and heights do you normally use?

Discount Tire in AZ doesn't do alignments (very few exceptions) and many Discount Tires are absolutely "clueless" on how to perform any tire service on Rivian's. From the correct service mode and ride height settings, to even using pucks. They actually don't use a puck, they use the Rivian plastic Eiffel Tower contraptions.

In my area we have five (5) Discount Tires within a small radius and two of them use our magnetic jack pucks and not the plastic contraption from Rivian. Discount Tire has a poor reputation on training consistency for Rivian's as we can see from the countless number of damaged vehicles for not even using the correct lifting port locations.

Mine said they absolutely knew what to do, but they didn't. YMMV

It's not State dependent, it is store dependent. I'm not sure that any of the stores that perform alignments are equipped to do Rivians yet. But that's supposed to be coming.

I went to America's Tire in Dublin, CA back in January since they are the only one in the Bay Area that started doing alignments, but they won't touch Rivians yet for alignments. Still did my rotation & balance there. Had my next two R&B done at my local AT, just 3 miles down the road.

Most of the time I'm driving in All-Purpose, Standard Height. Once in a while I will go AP, Auto or Conserve, Auto. Since I've read many posts about treadwear, I keep it in AP, Standard. The outer wear could have been from when I was playing with different modes and the damage is done.

Great point, so hard to know. I wouldn't trust anyone who is not a true alignment expert with a Rivian yet. It was a problem with Teslas early on also. When you have something radically different, you need to wait for shops to catch up.

Oh, same for the Land Rover hydraulic suspension; LR dealer only!

Get the Lifetime alignment balancing and rotation package.
Regardless my R1T has 60K and needed alignment only once.
I don't do much rotation and yet, my original tires lasted 40K+
