Well, My turn today. Last night my truck was left in my Garage with a 70% SoC, and locked (manually since I lock/unlock manually at home). This morning as I walked to my garage and opened the app to unlock, I got a 12v Battery Warning on my cell and the truck is completely dead.

I can't even get my work stuff out from it :) It will be a fun day!

I ran into it two weeks or so ago. Mobile Tech came out yesterday and swapped out both batteries. The process is pretty straight forward, but the Tech does have to clear all of the codes after the swap.

Only one battery was "bad" but the Tech swapped them both out.

I just hope it doesn't take a week or two in my case... Work laptop and my Tennis gear are locked inside and I do need to work and more importantly (of course) I do want to play tennis :)

People have had success using the jump leads in the back to get the vehicle unlocked. Have you tried that?

Briefly, I only have a 5A trickle charger. I measured the leads at 0V (so I'm assuming the battery is dead dead), and when running the trickle charger in recovery mode it goes up to 19V and back to 0 in a cycle for a minute before it shuts off.

So either the 12V battery is shorted (which might make sense since I had zero warning) or the 5A charger is just not cutting it with the power demand when connected to the truck (also very probable as Rivian states 30A for the charger).

I live way out in the boonies now. It also died right before the labor day holiday weekend and part of the delay was that none of the techs were working over the weekend to figure out their schedule.

While the wait was not ideal, I had no where to go at the time.

I tried that with a small solar trickle charger and it just would never charge the 12v battery.

I do not think a trickle charger will do the trick, you can review this thread, may be helpful.

God bless Amazon prime same-day delivery. I put an order on a Noco Boost X a couple of hours ago and I just got it delivered to my door. Jumped the R1T from the back leads and I was able to unlock both driver-side doors. It looks like there's an alarm sounding (turn signal flashing and a sound on the interior) and that's pretty much the only thing the truck did.

I'm able to get my laptop out and start working, will still wait for the Rivian Service Center (Called them twice already) and see when they can come down to replace the 12Vs...

It's a bit frustrating but...

Great news. Do you mind sharing the link for the one you purchased, might be helpful to others.

Absolutely!

That's the one. I didn't charge it out of the box, and it drained pretty quickly. So either the 12v sucks A LOT of juice to get it started or the battery it is indeed shorted. I've disconnected everything already as I needed to jump in a couple of meetings, this time with my laptop and not my phone ;)

Great to know, and should be on all Rivian groups! I also wonder if a second battery would be wise in parallel like my deisel?
It would be very unwise to do anything to the modify 12v system while these vehicles are still under warranty. Rivian will take care of any issues accordingly, and most owners should leave it at that. It's important to note that they have made significant progress via software updates to increase the vigilance of the vehicle and app notifying owners well in advance of the 12v battery dying. I had 9 days heads up via the notification before a mobile tech came out to replace mine and it drove fine the whole time prior to being replaced. Sometimes you get unlucky and there's little, if any, warning prior to a 12v failure, but that's becoming increasingly rare, and often correlated with operator errors such as seatbelts unknowingly left buckled, doors ajar etc all of which will drain the 12v (and the 400v main pack) keeping the vehicle awake, climate on etc. You won't always get the full story from folks posting about their bricked Rivians here.

From previous discussions about this topic, the consensus is there is probably a blocking diode in the rear connection for safety reasons, so you can't use that connection to measure or tap 12 VDC.

All of the 35+ control modules are powered via the 12 volt battery, so yeah, it requires a lot of current to boot up the vehicle. Rivian documents that it needs to be 30 amps for that reason. As you discovered, a trickle charger won't cut it.
