How to Improve a Gen 1 Rivian R1S’s Meridian Sound System After Update 2024.27.01/35.00 With Simple EQ Changes

I’ve always found that the classic “V” configuration in my equalizer settings gives me the elevated bass, treble and lowered midrange that suits my ear. And while this migh5 be considered wrong by audiophiles, it suits my ear. To each their own.

You and me both! I am not looking for studio accuracy. I learned along time ago that I grew up with ground shaking bass and cymbals that sing. I simply tune all audio systems to what I like to hear. While I certainly appreciate that there is an "accurate" way to do this.....after I have had that done a few times....I just abandoned it anyway because I know what my ears find pleasing.

And what is interesting.....is I go to many live concerts....and I find that my ears find the mixing they are doing at live events....is comparable to my (and your) "V" equalizer profile.

I use Alexa for our music in the Rivian, purely out if convenience. Any idea what bitrate it streams at?

There is drastic difference between 2024.35.0 and the previous version that enabled Atmos. It's not even close. @NY_Rob noticed that too.I have R1T with Meridian.

Yep, seems like there was an issue with Meridian audio in 2024.31.

It was not better... most of the speakers were not even working. But if you want it back you can try something like the following:

63 Hz +MAX, 125 Hz +MAX, 250 Hz 0, 500 Hz 0, 1 kHz -4, 2 kHz -2, 4 kHz 0, 8 kHz -MAX, 16 kHz +0.

Really wish Rivian would just stop messing around with the audio, first it sounded average, then it sounded awesome, now it's back to slightly better than average but worse than with the previous update and now you have to readjust all the EQ bands again.. till they fudge it up on the next update

Put your efforts in to fixing vampire drain or speech to text or something else, just leave the audio alone!

Just to note - I gave an @uber ride to an audio engineer. He currently works on mixing songs for @Dolby Atmos for several labels. His jaw dropped when I fired up some Dolby Atmos songs in the @Rivian R1S with the @MeridianAudio.

Hold up - you use your Rivian for Uber work? That's both awesome (if I were a passenger) and terrifying (if it were my Rivian) lol Would love to hear more about that if you have posted elsewhere about the experience and I just missed it.

Well I just wanted excuse to drive it more but have some sort of valid reason to do so ha. We do mostly food deliveries, but when the events are hot in Cincinnati, I'll fire up uber driver and accept comfort or xl rides - (they generally pay more). It's a great way to hand out referral codes for the really seriously interested people. One lady just bought a range rover and she instantly regretted it after riding in the R1S. She had no clue it existed. Such a cringe moment ha.

Have you heard about any issues with the ceiling speakers? When the initial update dropped, my ceiling speakers worked, but since the "corrected" Apple Music update I've heard nothing.

I also deviated from the suggestions, though I appreciate the work. I like more bass in my music, though the truck isn't well damped enough to really bump it up much without distracting resonances.

I punch up the 125 to feel a bit more in my chest, but I also cut the 1k band a few notches. I like a good midrange, but vocals on the elevation system just sound scratchy and harsh otherwise. I have the top rolled off a fair amount to reduce sibilance.
