"In a previous Q&A session, you stated that that parasitic drain should be no more than one mile per day; this was apparently later revised to be 1% per day. Either way, many and perhaps most Rivian Service Centers are not on the same page with that. I've personally been told by Service that my average drain of about 4% per day is within limits. I've also been told that up to 12% per day is not unusual (not a typo) and within spec. I'm far from alone in seeing daily drain levels of well over 1%, and also not the only Rivian owner to be told by service that levels up to 4% are acceptable and can be expected."

Question:
Is the one per cent per day actually Rivian spec, or is that figure merely aspirational? If the former, why is it that Rivian SC's are seemingly not aware of it, and also seemingly, unable to get parasitc drain down to those levels for so many Rivian vehicles?
I, too, watched the Q/A session where Wassym made the “1 mile per day” drain statement. I also figured he meant 1% per day. But, neither is a reality for most. I have also been told by service personnel, multiple times, that losses well in excess of 1% per day are considered normal and acceptable.

On a related note - why is parasitic drain factored into Trip Meter calculations? Isn’t the Trip Meter supposed to give useable data on actual DRIVING efficiency? As it is, the actual driving calculations are distorted by the idle time (vampire drain) to actual drive time ratio. The more time the car is idle, the more VD creeps into Trip Meter calculations and the more meaningless the Trip efficiency calculations become. if you drive 200 miles in one day, you will get a markedly higher efficiency calculation (m/kWh) than if you spread that same distance over 2, 3, or more days.

The other day, I decided it was time for a spreadsheet. Trip A data will be reset to zero every day. Trip B will keep on running (24/7). After only 3 days and a little over 100 miles, Trip B is showing 5 kWh (VD) more usage than Trip A. 2.13 m/kWh vs. 1.94 m/kWh. For just three days, the projected range on the Trip A meter is 278 miles vs. 254 miles on the Trip B meter. Thank you vampire drain ?

1. When is Sirius XM Coming?
2. Is there an update planned for Regen to have a "Coast" option and NOT come to a complete stop?
Rivian is not capable of “Coasting”. They can(technically) eliminate regen completely via software updates but their braking pedal cannot utilize the regen feature, so they have to use the throttle to control regen and the brake pedal when you need friction brakes.

Owners are seeing more new and different regression bugs each OTA release. This has become more frequent after Gen2 showed up. How is your team dealing with developing and testing for two platforms simultaneously?

Asking when a promised feature is coming is futile. He has a proven track record of missing timelines.

Ask what lessons and learnings did Rivian gain from costumes? Are we going to see more of the? Can they be permanently added? Purchased?

This is something that definitely should be addressed. The brake pedal should use 100% regen until the stopping power needed is more than the motors can provide. That is not an unusual feature in a BEV, so why can't the R1 do it? It's a big deal, IMO.

So the question: will Rivian ever introduce brake blending?

Timeline on the following:
  • Phone app - with contacts and favorites integration
  • Texting app - with contacts and favorites integration
  • Apple Podcasts
Something that’s never been mentioned, but has there been any consideration for something like native onX off-road or Trails Off-road or Gaia? Being all about adventure, you’d think one of these apps would be considered.

Thank you!

R1 vehicles have a more traditional braking system design and it’s not as complex as other BEVs. The brake pedal has a direct connection with the brake booster so blending is impossible, using the brake pedal.
Maybe in the R2….

Thanks a lot for the opportunity to relay our concerns :)

1) Bi-Directional Charging ...promised long ago (can we get a real schedule? We pretty much all understand Rivian challenges, however Rivian should respect its clients/fans better and giving us some reasonable time frame, no indication of dead line for something they already promised years ago has not been fair to us (and please in the future do not let us in the dark), All of us who ordered our cars long time ago, gave our trust to this Rivian team, I guess a lot of us love the cars and the Company, we have a lot of respect for the work done and the Rivian Team but we would like to feel our concerns are taking care of, at least with a schedule? Not and never knowing when those concerns will be resolved is the worst.
2) User configurable tire sizes...promised long ago (can we get a real time frame?)
3) Valet/teen mode...promised long ago (can we get a real time frame?)
4) normal cruise control with resume function for cruise
5) Manual battery pre-conditionning button
6) Pin to Drive, and pin to set up max Speed
7) better stability for Apple music and others Spotify etc..

Rivian uses a Bosch iBooster, so just like all the other companies that blend on the brake pedal.

When will bidirectional charging be available for first gen R1T and in the meantime what solar/battery system should I choose for compatibility? Tesla Powerwl? FranklinWH? Something else?

Signups for the event have closed, but I’m working with Rivian the best I can to ensure there’s some form of a recording available for those who can’t attend.

Alright, enough talking... ask away!
