Yes, how it's driven. My performance dual motor large pack R1T.

Well energy goes to more than just the motors and yes I do t see anyway you are actually averaging 3.24 unless you drive very slow and steady.
Sorry. I’m not sure what you are saying.

If one drives 2777 miles and averages 3.24 m/kWh, roughly 857 kWh of energy would be consumed to propel the vehicle. Some minor additional energy may be consumed for things like cabin heating, lights, etc. Additionally, any long term Trip Meter is including kWh used while the vehicle is idle - Vampire Drain. This calculation distorts any actual DRIVING Efficiency calculations. However, this photo is showing 581 kWh of additional usage and not apparently using those kWh in the efficiency calculation. It would take about 290 days at 2 kWh of VD per day (a pretty normal rate) to use that amount of energy. Either way, with my R1T, any long term trip meter shows total miles and total kWh consumed during the duration of that meter (running 24/7). Based on those figures it calculates m/kWh. Total miles Ă· total kWh consumed = m/kWh.

If one is counting on a long term trip meter to provide accurate actual Driving Efficiency and range info, ain’t goin’ to happen. For this reason, I would like to see Rivian not include vampire drain in its trip meter calculations.

FWIW, I’m attaching a spreadsheet covering the last 11 days, comparing Trip Meter A (reset every day) and Trip Meter B (constantly running). It’s pretty clear to see the difference in efficiency when one includes VD. This sheet is only for 11 days, and not many miles, but, based on my experienceI I suspect the results will stay relatively consistent. More miles driven per day will change the ratio between driving usage and VD, thus narrowing the difference some.

I’m saying you’re not getting 3.24 and your statement sounded like you thought all energy used went to the motors. That’s all.

Maybe someone else can look at their trip meter and confirm whether it just does a straight division between miles and mi/kwh to get the kwh value, or if it is deducting vampire drain or other energy "not going to the motors."

At first glance, it would seem odd to me for those amounts NOT to be counted in the kwh total, because in the end, regardless of whether the power is going to the motors or the AC or 120v sockets, it's still impacting the number of miles you traveled per kwh of energy used.

I THINK Rivian uses the total kwh not just what is used to propel the vehicle. Telsa only discloses the energy used to propel the vehicle on their screen. If I'm not mistaken Tesla is the only manufacturer who does that.

Is this the screen in the vehicle? If so, how do you access it?!
It is in the vehicle. Go to the drive mode screen, swipe left from the picture to drag over the screen

Rivian R1T R1S Efficiency Questions M/KWH IMG_6401

This was one “tank” of normal driving for me. It consists of two days commuting to work at 80 miles total each day, and the rest around town for errands and kid stuff. I regularly see these types of numbers, though because we also take our R1S on long road trips. the lifetime mi/kwh is about 2.6. Just the other day, with the vehicle full of luggage and with 5 people, we got from SoCal to Vegas -304 miles on the trip meter - with zero stops between at 2.82mi/kwh. I’m happy with that.
