Hi Folks,

I am wondering if other folks can actually use Alexa functionality to manage infotainment? I am used to my Tesla which works pretty well with voice commands. I also have never used Alexa before getting my Rivian. However, I have it setup and have even gotten the app for my phone to link it to Spotify. I could not figure out how to get Apple Music to work with it.

That worked for a little while, but now even Spotify doesn’t work and Alexa says I don’t have Spotify downloaded, which is obviously untrue.

Does this work effectively for anyone? It’s not the end of the world but it greatly diminishes my ability to enjoy music while driving solo, and as a dad with 3 kids, it’s pretty much the only time that happens lol.

Our Alexa is not working anymore either. We used to use it to play Audible books on our drive to school, but it hasn’t worked since the last update. Now Alexa doesn’t work at all. I asked about it when it was in for service and was told it now requires a subscription. Surely Rivian wouldn’t take away functionality that used to work just fine and now charge their existing customers for it? Would be grateful if someone has a solution.

Alexa requires an internet connection. I believe people that did not subscribe to Connect+ said they use the hotspot on their phone and connect the Rivian to it then most of the internet stuff works.

I have a Connect+ subscription, to clarify.

Yep, it’s just Alexa is regularly not able to work with the music apps. The apps work themselves by using the screen just fine.

For me, Alexa works with Spotify, not Apple Music, and "works" for Navigation and the built-in car commands. It won't call anyone in my address book even though there's an option in the car settings for exactly that. I can call and text through Siri.

Alexa is TERRIBLE Plays the right music 1/3 of the time and navigates to the right location less than 1/4 of the time. Randomly stopped connecting to Spotify and after a week of frustration just as randomly re-connected. Most of the time I manually type things in. One of these days Alexa is going to cause an accident because its errors are so distracting. Apple Music loads excruciatingly slowly in my R1S so I have simply given up on it.

Pretty much this:

That is pretty spot on! It's like 1 in 10 she gets what I want, but the other times it's not even close! It makes me scream at her to shut the F#@$ up!

It got to a point last week when I said "Alexa, why do you suck so badly?" – Silence. At least with Siri she responds to everything.
