Yeah misspoke in the video, definitely need the 10' USB-C extension cable.

Don't forget the 8 degree mounts from Comma too.
Thanks, I'd already ordered the 8 degree mounts when I ordered the Comma. Can't wait to get it going.

Is Comma dependent on Rivian's adaptive cruise? So, if adaptive cruise kicks out for some issue, will Comma still function? Or does it also stop?

I saw a video from OOS when Kyle was trying to get adaptive cruise to work, and it would not. He was on the highway and had to deal with no cruise control. He was doing the 70-mph test and had to manually try to keep the speed at a consistent 70 mph.

I think it relies on the adaptive cruise control.

Open pilot doesn’t rely on the Rivian cameras or wheel touch sensors. Open pilot relies on the command hardware for vision and driver monitoring. My commute home today was in the rain. When the Rivian warning popped up saying the visibility was reduced, use caution, comma didn’t flinch or disconnect.

How does it handle speed changes? Does it slow on its own for tighter corners?

Yes, it will slow on curves. I think they added that with longitudinal control a few years back.
Oh cool its been a few years for me since I used Comma, maybe that's new.

Here’s a brief video from my rainy commute today. You may notice that the Rivian is operating in low visibility mode, and Openpilot is demonstrating its ability to see approximately 5-10 car lengths ahead without any issues. In contrast, I've observed that the Rivian's system typically manages to see only about 2 car lengths ahead during most of the commute.

Throughout the journey, Openpilot did not disengage at all, even in the section with unmarked pavement before and after a bridge, and it maintained a straight path without any noticeable side-to-side movements. If the Rivian system had not been in low visibility mode, it would have disengaged in that scenario, as it often faces challenges even during the daytime in that particular location.

Looks awesome! Comma.ai just embarrassed Rivian’s Driver+. While Rivian owners are still stuck waiting on a proper hands-free driving - time to take notes, Rivian. ?

Rivian has a lot of plans, very doubtful most of them wil come to fruition any time soon.

" Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe recently shared an update on the EV maker’s driverless tech ambitions, revealing plans for what’s in store. These include, according to Scaringe, a hands-free feature set to hit the market this year [2025] as well as an “eyes-off” system by 2026. "

Hands free on the limited roads where driver+ works now, sure. If you believe the rest of that I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

Remember when Rivian promised hands free driving for Gen 1? I do. With Openpilot I get it now with the ability to use the assistance on every road. To me, it’s well worth the cost of the hardware. The current Gen 2 hardware will never be eyes off.
