I recently book a VRBO for an upcoming trip. It is advertised as having an EV charger. When asked to provide details, he sends me this picture. Is this a 30V 220 outlet? Will it work, be safe? What kind of adapter do I need? I searched the forum, but couldn't find a specific answer. TIA

That’s a 14-50 outlet. The portable charger that came with your Rivian will connect directly to it.

Negative.
That’s a 14-30 outlet. Adapter needed as per @SilverII.
Make sure to limit your amperage draw to 24amps in the charging setting on your vehicle. You’ll have to set it for each charging session as it will default to 48 amps each time.

That's a dyer style outlet, and I think it's technically installed upside down. which means the weight of the EV charger could be an issue pulling it away. You can use an adapter, but be careful I don't love the idea of adapters. you can use this one or one like it. https://amzn.to/4c1HBfU Make sure your lower the amperage in the car to 24 amp just to be safe.
FYI it;s 30amp not 30V.

Don't Skip This Critical Step - 24A Setting in Software (as everyone is shouting)

This isn’t a suggestion—it’s the key to making it work. Double-check, and then charge with confidence. It might work with a higher setting but not worth the risk, as you don't know the wiring and condition of the dryer socket.

Second this. Otherwise, you'll trip the breaker and release the murderous domestic robot with an uploaded consciousness queued in the game room.

I home charge from my nema 14 30 dryer outlet for my Rivian and Equinox ev. That is a nema 14 30 outlet pictured. Your rivian charger has a 14 50 plug so you need a 14 30 to 14 50 adapter. (Don't worry about moving up to the higher capacity 14 50 cord from the 30 amp source.) They are readily available and inexpensive. I use a smart splitter so I can keep my driver and ev charger both plugged in and it will recognize when either is trying to draw power and regulate the output. You don't need a splitter though. The house will have a 30 amp breaker that would trip if you tried to draw more then 30 amps. You do need to set your charge amperage in the Rivian charge screen to 24amps, which is 80% of the max 30 amps . 80% is the limit for sustained flow. I have a standard home 14 30 dryer outlet that is 27 years old. No problem. It is recommended that for ev charging you use a more heavy duty industrial or ev compatable outlet. I plan on converting over to one but have been using the standard outlet now for a year.
So, just buy a 14 30 to 14 50 adapter and set your charge to 24 amps.

Here is a good thread on the different adapters and extension cords for charging at vacation rentals. As mentioned above, that is a 14-30 dryer outlet, you will want to make sure you reduce the amps in the Rivian to 80% of the circuit. You also want to make sure you double check it each time as sometimes when you do another charge it will "reset" the setting in the Rivian.

My daughter moved into a house with a 10-30 dryer plug in her garage. We were able to use that at 24 amps, using an automatic splitter from Amazon. Works great, there’s a plug for the dryer and for the EVSE.

That’s a pretty cool perk for a VRBO! Just imagine the ICE equivalent: “We have an account down at the local gas station. Just drive down there, fill up and tell them to charge it to our account.”

does vrbo have "cleaning fees" like airbnb? The Count had a stay recently where he added a fourth night (did not check out or have cleaning after the initial three night stay) yet was charged two cleaning fees. If he wants to feel abused he'll book the Four Seasons.

In the off-season, I added a Tesla UWC to a beach rental property for guests to use. I will be interested to see how many use it. It is in a part of the outer banks of NC where there are not many charging options.
