I found a picture of the first deployment. He’s there to combat the porch pirates

Saw in the headlines. I don’t think this is a good idea for Rivian. Generally right now, I think people have an adverse view of humanoid robots taking human jobs.
The end of society as we know it will come when the delivery robots start to complain about lack of CarPlay ...

Doesn’t appear to me that it will eliminate any “human” jobs. Rather, the humanoid is there to assist the driver with delivery of packages

Maybe it’s to deploy in larger areas. Or even more rural areas. There is an Amazon deliver truck that sits all day or at least for sever hours a day in this very remote area. Residents/farmers/locals make their way to him to collect packages. Keep in mind, a lot of these small areas don’t even have house numbers. Maybe the robots will take that role while the human counties on numbered routes. Just one thought.
Ps. Buy Local, skip Amazon.

Most common folks would never associate the robot with the brand of the delivery truck. I never once thought of it as my mail got delivered by Grumman, normal people don't think like that.

Why would anyone be against robotic assist helping the poor delivery guy
Just throw a “Palantir ICE” label on the back of that robot - via executive order - and you can use your imagination from there.

If anything, some sort of automation to queue up the next package for the diver to run to the door would be incredibly helpful.
