I'm surprised that any Rivian owners are using trim restorer of any kind at this point. Are you guys getting fading already on the black plastic trim? Or just being proactive? Reason I ask is because I think black plastic should be a matte finish as it was when new and most of these protectants/restorers turn them glossy. Once you go there, it requires constant upkeep. That's why I don't bother doing anything to my trim until it starts to oxidize and only then will I mess with it.
My R1S is over a year old, you can see my post #39 for the before and after pictures. In the before picture you can see a casting line that I could not get rid of. The Cerakote Restorer helped remove it and left the plastic trim looking like it did when I picked up the vehicle. It has a matte finish, not the wet look like you see with products like many of the products.

I’ve never used this product before so will see how it holds up, it has almost been a month and so far looks the same as the day I applied it.

This is what I use:
Rivian R1T R1S Keeping black plastic trim BLACK!? 93D2FD48-37D3-44A1-9CAC-E20FCA119707_1_105_c

It's pretty easy and lasts a few washes, or until I cover the truck in dirt again.

This is the exact issue I experienced, mud/wash streaks from light offroading. While the dirt washed off the streaks remain.

My R1S is 11 months old. I used 4 wipes for the entire vehicle.

I did notice some light rash in the plastic from light gravel spray back (none in the paint) the cerakote mostly makes these visually disappear, however you can feel them with my hand. I guess it's my badge of honor.

I bought the Cerakote wipes, but they are super glossy for me. I like the 303 and the more matte look. It matches my matte chrome delete and badges better than glossy plastic.

Yeah, it looks good after you coated it. I'm really surprised that the trim was fading at all on such a new vehicle. My Jeep has the same black plastic trim and it still looks brand new even though it's a 2019.

Has anyone done a touch-up with Cerakote trim restorer?

I missed a spot, and considering filling it in. Manufacturer recommends against going back over, but I’ve seen some successful reapplications too.

So I used Cerakote on my R1T and it has lasted nearly 3 years in our lovely FL sun. Unfortunately its starting to fade on some of the bumper pieces at the end.

Anyone have recommendations on reapplying or using an additional product? (Reddit loves Solution Finish). Would I have to remove the old cerakote with a magic eraser and non-acetone nail polish remover first?

I use Cerakote on my R1S in the California sun. Seems to work great, I reapplied it after a year just cleaning the trim the same as the first use. Seems to have applied and lasted just as long.

I use 303 UV protectant on the cladding, top of the bed and the tire sidewalls every couple of washes. I spray it directly on the applied area and wipe off with a microfiber towel. After two years, it still looks good when done. I haven't had to go the restorer route yet.

As a side note, I also cut a microfiber towel down into 4 pieces and use that for this process. I find this is a smaller area of towel for the protectant to soak and I can make a bottle go farther.
