Rivian R1T R1S Windshield & Sunroof Protection Film - DIY Pre-Cut / UV + IR Blocking (TWRAPS) 1

Hey gang

Due to popular demand, after literally 2 years of testing different films, I am happy to announce that we now offer Windshield and Sunroof protection film for the Rivian. Windshield is for both R1T & R1S, while the sunroof is for R1S only for now (will develop a R1T version next month).

We have 2 versions of the film - UV Block and UV+IR Block.
Here are 5 reasons to choose our UV+IR film (at least for the sunroof):
  • ☀ No Heat Dome: Unlike traditional window tint, this film is installed on the outside. That means that 85% of the heat will be rejected before it even enters your cabin, eliminating the risk of cracked glass due to heat domes caused by traditional sunroof tints that are installed on the inside.
  • ❄ Faster Cooling: In my experiments, a 2025 Gen2 R1S with starting cabin temperature of 120F took only 5 minutes to cool down to 75F when both windshield & sunroof UV+IR films were installed. Without the film it took 20 minutes.
  • 🏁 Better Range: Because of the heat rejection, your AC won't need to work as hard, which will translate to slight increase in mileage/range.
  • ☺ Comfy Cabin: You and your passengers will have an overall cooler cabin and comfier experience on those summer adventures.
  • 🛡 Glass Protection: Reduce the risk of glass chips and cracks by adding an 8mil shield between the road and your Rivian.

You can get your DIY pre-cut kit here:
https://twraps.com/products/windshi...m-rock-chips-uv-ir-defense-for-rivian-r1s-r1t

Very importantly:
  1. Only install when the glass is NOT hot or warm to the touch.
  2. Use plenty of soapy water, about 1:10 ratio clear liquid soap (or baby shampoo) vs water.
PS I apologize for the pricing. I know it's pretty expensive. Unfortunately the only film that I liked during testing was the most expensive one. Add pretty crazy cost of shipping (as this will ship in a large tube mailer) and it adds up :/

And here is the install video:

Awesome as always! Quick question, do you get any banding with polarized sunglasses (like Maui Jim) on the front windshield film? I notice some on our R1S and can (sorta) live with it, but would love to avoid it on my truck. Appreciate all the great products!

Both I and my wife always drive with sunglasses, because you know - California 😎(polarizing, Ray Ban), and neither of us can see any rainbows or anything else. (Just asked her to confirm too). Just about the only thing I can register is a few pieces of dirt that I missed. (That’s post curing of 3 days in the sun. Before curing it looks a bit hazy and spotty in some places)

+1 on the R1T roof film. While I enjoy the protection the sunshade I have provides, It really sucks not being able to look up and out of the glass roof in the summer.

I'm assuming it was a part of the testing process, but how does the windshield film hold up with frequent wiper use?
Always use water (do not dry wipe). [This is good advice for life, too #teambidet]

Good sir. You also noted this in the videos. Which brand soap do you recommend? I don't think I've ever purchased a 'clear' liquid soap (Dawn is blue or green or orange...).

Thanks, a customer is dropping off his R1T with me next week, so I can develop a full color wrap for it and I will use the occasion to do the rear window tints and roof film too.
As for looking up - you still won't be able to to be honest...This is only 70% VLT, barely noticeable in terms of darkening.

As @R1Thor said - always use water to reduce the risk of scratching... with that said, the longest I held it without reinstalling was 1 month and it had 0 scratches that I could see. Notice that at the end of my install video is me actually uninstalling that film that was there for 1 month (that was the UV only version, as I really wanted the UV+IR for myself which I put on the video and plan on keeping it). Admittedly it's summer but I tried to remember to use the wipers every time I drive even though we've seen exactly 0 drops of rain. Worth noticing I've been mostly parking on the driveway because I have my wife's Model Y in the garage as I am working on Color PPF wrap for that. And on the driveway it's hot so the film self-cures from small scratches - i.e. they may have developed but disappeared, I wouldn't even know.
The manufacturer of the film (this is made in South Korea) says it should last about 2 years. I am going more conservative for now and on the website I list as 1+ years. That is WITHOUT any coatings. If you apply ceramic on top though and refresh it like once a month during wipers seasons, it should theoretically last longer. I am yet to do the ceramic thing because I've been partnering with a chemicals manufacturer in SoCal to do our own blend of ceramic, and testing of that will actually begin next week.

I use Simple Human liquid dish soap and it's been great. I know a lot of people reporting using Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo and also getting great results.

It looks like Rivian has updated its glass with infrared-blocking capabilities? I just replaced my rear glass…. Very interested in your products!

Wow that looks super cool actually!!! Do you have any idea if they also do the big one like that on new models?

Yes and it looks like they want me to replace the front one so they match 😂

On your website it says Made in USA, so I 'm confused.

Sorry, design & cutting/weeding/packing is made in the USA. The film itself is made in South Korea... i.e. raw material = S.Korea, final product = USA.

That's good enough for me.
