I seriously considered the Silverado when shopping for a tow vehicle. My wife vetoed it due to the size. She (and I) did like the idea of all those dealers/service centers though. And that truck does have some range.

We're pretty happy with our R1S. We get about 1.75 mi/kWh pulling the trailer.

Been getting about the same towing the 4200lb boat which is respectable which equates to around 250m range towing. I still drive my Silverado 1500 Duramax and I couldn't take a big downgrade in the size. Both the EV and the Duramax are practically stretch limo type seating in the back which is hard to step back from when you have kids, dogs and lots of gear. I do like the Rivian interior when compared to the Tesla, but I am a knobs and buttons kind of guy where I dont like digging though a touch screent to do anything. It looks like the Rivian did a happy medium on that with at least buttons for the important things like locks and windows. Anyways...appreciating all the feedback....If I didnt get the Silvy, the Rivian would have been my only real other choice. Cybertruck is to too ugly and the Ford is just a regular truck. Can't wait to see more on the market.

We've had our R1T for eight months now, and love it. We tow a 7600 pound, 27' Airstream with it. It replaced a GMC Canyon diesel. The R1T is a great tow vehicle, although it does take more planning to be sure of charging stops.

Our other car is a Tesla Model Y, which we've had for about 4 years. It is also a great vehicle.

We've put a deposit down for the R2, which will replace our Tesla some time next year.

Hey all. Glad we found you all. Brand new 2026 Rivian R1S Dual Motor Adventure owners as of today 8/12. Traded in our Tesla Model S that we've had since 2017.

Live on the Northside of Minneapolis, walking distance to Robbinsdale and Brooklyn Center. We do a LOT of road trips. In May we did a 24-day 5000k+ mile road trip west, for instance, and are planning another one to the east coast next spring. We do lots of local trips too.

Hello! 👋
Just picked up my Tri Motor R1S yesterday! Loving it so far, and can't wait for a road trip. From Tacoma, WA and hoping to meet up with the local Rivian club at some point.

Hello to the Forum. I've been lurking since last August when I placed my order for my R1S. Took delivery in December. Finally breaking down and putting my toe into the Rivian social media community.
Happy to say I haven't had the issues that often crop up in the threads. When people ask how I like the vehicle, I let them know it's fun to drive and I love the vehicle. Coming from an '06 Jeep Liberty Renegade (last model year for the breed) with 275000 miles, I may be a lot more forgiving on subjective issues such as road/tire noise....
I have definitely appreciated the advice, information and opinions offered in many of the threads and look forward to learning and enjoying more for years to come.
Cheers!

It took me many years, but I made it. Tri motor, Ascent interior Gen 2 R1S. Despite all the waiting, hype and finally deciding to pull the trigger, I'm still blown away by this machine. The engineering, the tech, the overall experience is just sublime. Maybe it will wear off but even as I compare it to my Mach E...it's just on an entirely other level. Comparing It to my 2018 Grand Cherokee that I traded in, made that car feel like obsolete technology. I'm picky and detail oriented about my cars, so there will be things that annoy me, but the visceral reaction is just "WOW"! I still can't believe we are living in an age with a vehicle like this. I hear a few rattles, that I will take note of go back to the service at some point, but right now I'm just enjoying the honeymoon period. That wait was worth it!

This forum has gotten so big that it's overwhelming, so I'm not even sure where I plan to start. Mostly I'd like to get to lessons learned and suggestions for how to best maintain and enjoy the vehicle.

Thx!

Hello, I'm an EV noob here looking for EV info. I've been interested for years but it took this long for someone's EV to tick enough boxes on my list to look closer. I'm hoping to find out that an R2 will work for me.

I'm about to be 70yo and I got 'retired' at 55 by a traffic incident. Living on the east coast and hoping an R2 can save me enough in the long run to be my 'forever transport' instead of the Tundra that I have now. (I expect to sell that next spring or summer so . . . . 😉) Since I have the time now I want to travel to many of the National Parks and an EV seems like the way to do it.

I'll have a lot of questions and hope I'm not too annoying to those with more knowledge and experience.

Gen1 R1S Quad, Gen2 R1S Quad LE, R2S on preorder
Hi, I'm Jeff and it's good to be in this forum.

My wife has her R1S Quad since late 2023 and I got my Gen2 R1S Quad LE last month. I'm still in the honeymoon period with mine and love to just go for drives for the fun of it.

We also have an R2 reserved, my wife will probably want to downsize a little once those are shipping.

Will send some pics later...

Best, Jeff

Hi everyone. Bill here. I have a 2013 Leaf, my wife has a 2021 LR AWD MY. I have been on the list for an R2 since 3/7/24. I am hoping my Leaf can last until the R2 is available to me. I live in NM and we need a Rivian service center! Thanks for this community.

Aloha, just got my 2026 R1T after 4 years in a VW Id.4 (now my wife’s). Had a truck for 35 years and thought a SUV EV would suit me fine as I didn’t want a “full size” EV truck. I was wrong. Week and a half in, love being back in a truck.
