FYI I live 30 minutes (crow flies) north of downtown Los Angeles and pre solar I paid about $175 for all utilities in a 1400 sq foot house. CA can be expensive, but it's not always more expensive then any other major city.

Sorry for off topic, but damn cost of living in California is outrageous! Upstate NY my utility bills total about $175/ month including gas, electric, water, sewer and trash removal.
yeah I was in California around thanksgiving gas was $10/gallon!

Too many unknowns to compare and say it's crazy talk. Type of heating and cooling, hot water method, lighting, home size, home vs. condo, number of people, etc. etc. etc.
Not at all related to electricity, but between water, garbage, and recycling alone I pay about $200/month in the Seattle area. That doesn't account for natural gas or electricity.

Edit: there's two of us in my house, and our water usage is below the average per person. It's just expensive.

Living in western Washington, we are paying about 10c/kwh flat all day and night so not much savings there. But power outages are getting more frequent as storms are getting stronger. It would be a great help to have a backup option for those unfortunate times. I don't want to put a noisy generator that some of neighbors started to add.
Hmmm, now I'm wondering *where* in Seattle you are. I didn't have a single power outage in the `8 years I lived in Seattle proper. I have a couple/year in my subdivision that's out in unincorporated King County because the power lines feeding our neighborhood are above ground. Everything in the subdivision is buried, PSE just hasn't buried a section of power lines up-grid from us. Super annoying.

NYSEG $140+ $12 town water + $6 City Sewer +$14 trash = $172. water is a liitle less in winter not watering the lawn NYSEG is a liitle more for gas. $175 is probably more accurate. I live in a 1500SF cape cod style shanty with unfinished basement and a detached unheated garage. You can pick them up for $150K all day long if anyone is interested in relocating.
I'd love to know where your City is burying their water and sewer capital costs. Do you all deal with all capital expenses through bonds rather than usage fees?

I have been living in Issaquah for 7+ years now. It's next to Sammamish and the major lines are still above ground. I think we lost power at least 4-5 times last year with one time it took about 24 hours to get power back. First couple of years power outages were like once a year incident.

Yeah, I'm out towards Maple Valley. Same issue. I missed that underground power SCL has invested in. At least for reliability. I hate having to drill near or around it.

Gotta call BS on this one :)

We don't have Sunoco in CA and 100 octane for what?? Racing fuel has always costed more.

What do you drive that has that high of compression ratio needs of 100 octane?

This was at a Shell in Auburn - has a little separate pump island with Sunoco.

and there’s Sunoco all over the state.
Especially at race tracks. ?

Focus RS loved a couple tanks of 100 octane.
They sell ethanol free 105 octane in Watkins Glen for race cars and sport boats it is also around $9-10/ gal. 93 octane fine for premium/ performance cars is around $4.50 at the moment. Can't wait to get rid of my ICE rides... so last century.
I am rooting for a well executed feature rich set of ASAS in my R1T to take some of the burden of monotonous driving stretches. R1 price point warrants it and the communications from early launch events and the website have stated it will be relevant and competitive.
