My driver's mirror had been making some 'rough' noises, and it felt like it was struggling to open & retract when I got in / out of the car (R1T). Yesterday it just stopped working completely - no more automated mirror folding & opening. The rig is going in next week for a tire rotation, so I'll have them assess the mirror as well. There are absolutely no signs of abuse to the housing, so I am assuming that this will be a warranty issue. Anyone have a similar experience?

My driver side mirror started making a grinding / buzzing noise for a good 10 seconds after it folds out and again once the truck is driving (above 10 MPH) for about 10 seconds as well. The noise started about a week ago. No impact to the mirror that I’m aware of or can see. The mirror does have a little “play” when in the out position - while the driver side mirror doesn’t have any ”play”. I tried the soft and hard resets as well as messing with all of the mirror open / close options and even the mirror tilt for back-up to see if that was impacted or if that would make a difference - no configuration changed it - still buzzing for the 10 seconds.

I took a video and put in a service ticket. Rivian responded quickly and said that they believe they can fix it with a mobile service appointment. Waiting for the mobile service in 2 weeks.

Gen 2 R1S Quad w/ 1,700 miles. This is my second rivian - traded in my 2023 1 R1S Quad w/ 27,000.

I had the same issue (Gen2 R1S). Mobile tech came and concluded it has to go to SC. SC fixed it for free (it was under warranty). Something related to the gears that rotate it.

Similar issue here on my 18 month old Gen2 R1S. Driver side mirror no longer folds. I can manually move the mirror a bit and it will then unfold/fold, but only for a couple of times then back to being stuck open. It has a bit of "play" when compared to the passenger side mirror. No grinding or other noises from that mirror. No obvious damage or other signs of impact. I've added it to an upcoming mobile appointment (home location, proximity locking issue), hoping it can get addressed there. If not, I've also got an upcoming SC appointment for the blinker recall. Will update when I learn more.

Update - they fixed this with a mobile service. They replaced the entire mirror fold mechanism and motor. Reused the mirror “cover” which was nice as I had it PPF’d. All good since the mobile service.
