LOL, my wife made me a counteroffer. Pay me the $3300+ dollars and I will manually remove and reinstall it herself upon request rofl!
This is where I struggle.
I'd prefer to have the PTC, but if I'm being completely honest, I use my bed 1-2 times/month and typically never have to remove more than a slat or two of my Interrobang cover.

The few times I've had to remove the entire thing, it's easy enough to do and store the cover in my gear tunnel.
So, it's really a nothing-burger.

For anyone who might need to get into/out of their tailgate daily and needs to get farther in/fill up more vertical space, this totally makes sense!

Happy news for me - called and was told that my truck qualifies!

VIN 25xxx
Build month June 2023
Was not ordered with the powered cover or the manual cover
No frunk or dash 12v
Appears to have the rails/slots in the bed trim

I agree with your assessment. This is why I have built a DIY manual tonneau cover and thought that PTC ship had sailed when my configured R1T with the PTC which was removed, etc. I also rarely remove my cover and can store it as you have indicated.

Yes, I can think of better things to do with $3300+ dollars (including giving it to my spouse for her services lol). If nothing else, it is good to know that if I wanted the setup, I am halfway there with some of the required components. For everyone else, they have the information to make that informed decision on what works best for them.

This whole thing is just a mess. RIVN fumbled this one big time and need to solve for it. Between suspension issues, half shafts, the original PTC issue and now this. Come on, we are behind you, support us!
This is where I struggle as well. It's been clear from the start that OG owners that had this removed from their configs wanted a post delivery install. Why then alienate thousands of those customers by not offering the necessary hardware to make it possible?

There very well could be 1 person at an office in California or Illinois that looked at it and went "Oh, no wiring harness, guess we can't install it" without asking others "can we install a wiring harness there?" Easy mistake, easy fix.

Has anyone who was told "Does not qualify" had the time to pull panels off and look at existing wiring? I'm pretty sure I've already solved it. Before are without Tonneau on top and with tonneau on bottom for each Gen.

Rivian R1T R1S V2 Powered Tonneau Cover ($3300 installed) now listed in Rivian Gear Shop 1000005930

Without Tonneau button/plug is:
Rivian R1T R1S V2 Powered Tonneau Cover ($3300 installed) now listed in Rivian Gear Shop 1000005929

With tonneau plug is:
Rivian R1T R1S V2 Powered Tonneau Cover ($3300 installed) now listed in Rivian Gear Shop 1000005928

So it's $152.49+labor code 787026010 to make it compatible.

My 2022 Gen 1 with 110xx Vin still has a fully functioning 1st generation powered tonneau cover. It has made a few weird noises every now and then and required recalibration a few times, but overall it has held up after 40,000 miles of opening and closing many times every week. Hopefully it holds up until the gen 3 R1s are a reality. Fingers crossed.

I've been a bit busy unfortunately. I know, "Forum Comes First!" I'm hoping I have all the torx bits I need, otherwise, Home Depot on the way home it is. Hopefully I can report back later this evening.

Another data point: just called back and the rep told me it would be available for non-eligible customers at the end of the year, and that he couldn't sell me a manual tonneau cover. I've waited well over two years at this point, what's another couple of months...if it happens.

FWIW, I called back today just to see if anything in their system might have changed since the day 1 announcement. No luck. Still not compatible.

Honestly, no worries, that wiring diagram says it all. See below.

I believe they're slow rolling it and will come up with a way to charge for wiring harness replacement in the future.

If there's anyone who's been denied and is willing to install wiring harness and tonneau themselves, let me know. I'll order parts to ship directly to you.
