I’m coming up on 18 months with my R1T. 36k miles already and now replacing my original 20” AT tires with Toyos. I love my truck and have had no major issues with it or with service (SC or mobile).

My wife was just asking me what car I’m going to get next (since historically I’ve started looking by the time I hit 2 years in a vehicle), but I’m planning to keep the truck.

For those that are out of warranty, did you do an extended warranty? If so, which one? Has anyone heard any news on the Rivian Care pilot in TX?

Ok there should be a prize for this! Very few of us will achieve this differential.
The top of Pike's Peak and Mt Blue Sky are both closed for construction, so it will be a while before it's possible to match it again.

I would like to know this is well!

I passed 40k today. Only major issue I've had is my V1 powered tonneau failed last week... Otherwise it's been great and love the truck. I've even thought what I'd buy if it got totaled. Answer is another as low a mileage as possible '22. I love the extra noise of the Bosch motors 😁

I haven't bought any additional warranty. Just don't feel I need it.

What failed on your tonneau cover? Mine said "Object detected" and wouldn't close all the way and would pop back open, but it's a super easy fix of pushing the button 5x in rapid succession.

That's where I'm feeling on the warranty is that it's not needed...every once and I while I get scared when I see people's suspension leaking. That's when I start to wonder if there is an Ext Warranty that is worth it.

Tonneau bound up and twisted in the track. I was able to push the slats back straight, but when I tried to reset the system it bound up again and makes some bad noises if it tries to move. (hoping they decide to retrofit the new design so that I don't have doubts about using it for the next 100k)

I expect every forum to have more problems than praises because that's how car forums work.

I've had my fair share of issues with my Gen 1 Rivian R1T but nothing that would make me want to part ways with it.

I've also gotten used to glitches of the passive entry system where I'm just waiting for it to open for me for about 2-3 seconds at times. I use the fob so that obviously shouldn't happen.

In my experience the Michelin Defenders are WAY better than what came stock on the All-Season. They should be the standard tire.

Cost wise I really don't see anything better. I do plan on getting an extended warranty before the warranty runs out. I think that's the most cost effective means to keep it the next 5 years or so.

Long term I'll probably get an R2 and then get a Sierra EV for truck use.

Nice to hear. My experience has also been generally good. Half the cost to drive around compared to an equivalent ICE vehicle, quiet and no emissions is cool. My lifetime efficiency is 2.5. Charging infrastructure has become so good that range anxiety is a non thing.

If a parts and service outlet becomes a thing where others besides Rivian can do service (ie me) I'll keep it for a long time.

I recently purchased a higher mileage '22 CY R1T currently at 77k. I am glad to hear that these guys are holding strong for the most part. I recently had service at the Fife SC here in WA. I had a leaky left rear strut and got a couple things fixed while there including front camera service, new rear brakes and rotors. Great people there and I was given an R1S loaner for two weeks while parts were on order, very nice! Out the door I had to shell out $4343 and change so it CAN be a spendy rig when it needs it. TPMS sensors are failing as well. This would have been almost ALL under warranty so keep those miles in check for all you under 60k. :)

(puts on old man hat) Our R1S summited these but it was before the software update that tracks max/min elevation.

I guess now the question just becomes how many miles can I expect to get out of the battery?

I don't know that I will be able to afford another one if this one dies, since it was so much less expensive at the pre-order.

2.5 years and 70k miles in and these are also my main concerns.

I pick up my used 2022 R1T Quad this Friday so this is very encouraging and congratulations! My previous ride was our single family 2003 Jeep Liberty 3.7l which I sold running well with 335,000 miles on the original engine and trans so I need to top that! :like:

This is exactly why I bought an extended warranty. One failed air-suspension strut basically pays for 90% of the coverage. I’m with XCare (lots of folks here are and they are big in the Tesla ecosystem), and I’m at 63,500 miles on a March 2022 R1T. My plan runs to 133K miles and five more years with a $100 deductible. It was about $5K, not cheap, but far better than paying $4K+ out of pocket again for a strut or anything similar. I am confident it will pay for itself multiple times.

did you replace the 12V batteries and at what mileage? Also, what are the warning signs or sounds of issues with suspension and / or half shafts were acting up for those that have had issues?
