It’s personal preference. To me it makes the cabin feel more intimate. Plus my Range Rover had it and it was perfect cuz I would never see any make up stains on the passenger side visor. On my other car with the light interior you can see make up marks. I hope this interior stays clean as I have added a protectant to the interior.
Thought you might find this story funny. Friend of mine was at a stoplight and the car in front started going then hit her brakes. He rear ended her car very lightly. Got out of the car and saw the lady with laceration and blood marks all over her face. He called 911 right away. Later they found out it was lipstick marks on her face. She was putting lipstick while driving.

After a year of daily driving, including multiple beach and wilderness outings, no stains or obvious wear. I don't use pre-treatments or "coatings."

It’s getting to be the bewitching hour when I take delivery on my R1S, and need to lock in the configuration. I’ve always assumed that I would get the Black Mountain interior but I recently took a close look at the Ocean Coast and it is really good looking. I’m concerned about the clean-ability and the durability. Anyone out there with a Ocean Coast interior want to share their experience?
Also 7 months, and 10K miles. No problems at all. Love it.

Not so great with food or juice stains.
Had a mango and Jamba juice carrot+orange fall in different occasions haven't been able to clear either of them

Is this the mild cleaner you used? Hoping it may get sunscreen out even without having done the ceramic coat first. #askingforafriend ? #luckywelivehawaii

Coming up on 1 yr, ~12k miles and still great. I did get a new drivers seat in there because of squeaking upper back area. I find it easier to keep clean than our BM interior. I just use a damp microfiber with a few sprays of interior cleaner and wipe it down every few weeks.

I haven't had any problems with the grime from my small kids. Drinks, food, and misc bodily fluids have all been easily cleaned with minimal effort and it still looks good as new (after 10 minutes of cleaning).

The headliner in the cargo area is a dirt-magnet. Everytime I haul anything remotely dirty the headliner looks gross afterwards, but thus far a bit of soapy water has left it looking good as new.

The only thing that has been hard to remove is bluejean die transfer on the driver's seat.
It comes out, but it requires a lot of scrubbing.

OC is the best interior imo. i had a Rivian loaner for 3 weeks with BM... sorry but thats just way too monochrome and dark. OC also looks more premium that BM.

stains are basically a non-factor. everything thats gotten on it has come off. i use the Gyeon mild leather cleaner and it works great. takes very little effort to get stains out.

Interior materials are not fit for purpose. Everyone needs to file a warranty claim so they can remake these with a material that is appropriate for “an adventure vehicle.”

I’ve got 33,000 miles and no wear showing. From the pictures in this thread Looks like someone’s been dragging some heavy objects across the edges of the seats. Not a good idea.

Some good leather cleaner or mild soap on a wet microfiber towel works wonders.

I agree that’s what it looks like but obviously that hasn’t happened. 🤣🤣🤣 Very light use which just shows how unfit for purpose this material is, especially with the stay adventurous tagline. The material is simply not fit for purpose. I will litigate it with them should they not replace it with entirely new material.

Out of curiousity, when did you take delivery? Are you launch edition? I’m hoping that it’s just a window at the factory when they were pumping them out and not the material broadly. Perhaps improperly cured, etc.

I got it Sept 2023. Not launch. Given that this isn’t real leather I’m not sure if there was a curing process. Not that it matters.

My R1T is from the first batch of Ocean Coast deliveries. Launch Edition. September 2022. I have had it for over three years, and about 35k miles. I take it camping and hiking all the time - that's my main use for the vehicle.

And my Ocean Coast interior still looks brand new. No stains, no tears, no wear marks, etc.

I don't know what's going on with yours, but it's not typical. Even when people complain about wear, those are not the spots that anyone complains about.

Anything you can think of that would be causing wear at those spots? My first thought is kids or dogs, but you would be the one who would know. I don't think the upholstery would just fall apart like that without some source of wear.

It’s on every surface, low touch, high touch. It’s just not fit for purpose. I think that’s exactly the point that it’s happening with ordinary use which means it’s simply not fit for purpose. I have a 2018 Tesla with white seats and not a single knick anywhere. I have a 2019 VW atlas that my kids ride in daily and there is one tiny slit in the drivers seat. So I can assure you that the expectation for carmakers is that humans and animals will be riding in their “adventure” vehicles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
