Haven't had any phantom braking since we dumped our muskrat mobile. It was so bad I had to drive across KS with no cruise control. Ioniq 5, Lightning, Rivian and Sierra EV no phantom braking.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Doesn't apply to my Gen 1, but I honestly don't get the business logic on this.

Assuming a 15% take rate (similar to Tesla) $50/mo * ~200k annual vehicle sales * 15% = $18M revenue stream per year of vehicle sales. Apply vehicle sales growth and the longevity of vehicles and it grows to a revenue stream in the low hundreds of millions in a decade.

Rivian already has $5B in revenue. Once Normal scales, they'll have maybe $12B in revenue (~200k annual sales at a $60k ASP across all vehicles / trims).

Autonomy involves a multi-billion dollar software investment effort, on top of putting a couple hundred dollars worth of sensors in every vehicle sold, even if they're not paying for autonomy. I don't get how this maths.
I think it might have something to do with generating stock valuations.

it's not phantom. I know the reason, it's just delayed/ not calibrated properly.

Is it for parked cars or curves or traffic that seems to move into lane, but doesn't? G1 has problem with #1 and #2.

Comparing Gen 2 (2026) Autonomy to 2016 Model S (AP 1.0): The Gen 2 can’t handle line recognition or lane changes as well as the Model S. Obviously this is a major flag and Rivian needs to figure out why 10 year Tesla Tech beats their current offering, maybe at least before pricing it at $2.5k (or $50 per month)…

Here is my criteria for $50...
-- Handle stop signs and stop lights.
-- Mild mode while driving and stopping but spicy mode when taking off.
-- Move a little right of center on a two lane road when it senses an oncoming vehicle.
-- Auto lane change and pass slower cars on a divided highway.
-- Lane centering and adaptive cruise while towing.
Spot-On assessment

I think you could make an argument if in 3 years rivian gets 90% of Tesla FSD - then the $2500 would actually be valuable for a used car because at that point rivian will justify charging more in the future / or at least people will think $2500 is a good value , if it ever gets much past adaptive cruise control / highway assist then kiss the $2500 away. However most owners by the time they either love autonomy plus or hate it will end up being into the service a couple years so technically you’re not “losing” $2500. Probably more like $1500 or less

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if rivian changes their stance on being able to transfer over autonomy+ to a new car once in a while just like a 0% financing. It will boost some sales ect/ move some inventory / meet year end sales quotas which help a company. Telsa does this all the time for certain things so I wouldn’t put it past rivian.

What navigation features will be free if you don’t subscribe to Autonomy+?

I am contemplating to stop sharing my navigation data with Rivian.

As a follow up to a previous discussion about the eye nanny, I turned if off yesterday and all that works is adaptive cruise. No lane centering, and of course, no hands free anything. I mean you can take your hands off, but then the truck finds the closest ditch.

It might be that is what we get.

I would like lane centering, but I can live with adaptive cruise if that is the functionality we get without a UHF subscription.

If this is the case, then Gen 1 capability would beat non-paid Autonomy+ as it has auto steer + lane centering (on mapped freeways with hands on) and adaptive cruise control included. Seems foolish of Rivian to derate Gen 2 to LESS than Gen 1 capability.

It's on the Rivian Autonomy+ page at the bottom:

Rivian R1T R1S $2500 Autonomy+ one time purchase now an option on Rivian configurator 1770323060444-3

Pretty sure this takes things back to what Gen 2 was before any of the hands-free stuff got implemented, and lines it up with Gen 1.

I'm guessing that something broke when the outage happened last week...

Does anyone anticipate Rivian increasing this price in the near future (monthly rate) or when they improve or iterate within Autonomy+? My wife uses UHF but I don't really, so she is thinking we should pay for it. Like many in this thread I would want functionality improved, but I'm worried that they'd increase the monthly cost making a 2500 dollar investment more of a deal now. I realize we don't know for sure, just want to pulse other members for their thoughts.
